The WII U failed because of many reasons. Obviously I do understand that people can and maybe even should be disappointed to a certain extent but I think Nintendo did a lot for the Wii U.

They made new IP's supported it for a longer period than Sega did with their failed consoles and lets be honest.. We love Nintendo games and if they can make a console that plays them better and gets more support to more developers make games on the consoles it can only be a good thing.

The Wii U has flopped in terms of sales, the Nintendo hardcore may enjoy the Wii U, but Nintendo know that they have lost pretty much all the marketshare they had with the Wii, they have to do something to keep there share partners happy and act before the next Playstation.

I think there doing right thing along as it's heavily marketed and is a proper console with a normal controller.

I agree with Vivster on this, my money is staying in my pocket as far as NX is concerned. I will get my Nintendo fix by playing the best of the Wii U library, go back through to find Wii hidden gems and play the back catalogue through the VC. My PS4 will keep me up to date on current games.

Splitting the user base?
The WiiU is already dead, 13 millions console sold in 3 and a half years.

Maybe it will split that in half, maybe there will be 6 and half millions WiiU owners that won't buy a NX, and that's a big if.

But Nintendo's objective are far beyond those number, you can be sure they aim at 50-80 million NX sold

So yes they are killing the WiiU and taking a shot with NX, it's totally worth it

Over 10 millions angry customers, try 100 000, tops.

Most people won't care when the NX comes out. The WiiU will be 4 years old and it will have a few more games in 2017 (mainly Lego Games etc)

But seriously, the only thing pissing off the WiiU owners is the WiiU library of games. And this can never be fixed.
