It was decent.

It was good. not great though. I would rank it fourth best movie, but it wasn't hard to do better than the prequels.

To me it lacked a lot of stuffs that make star wars star wars, something that all 6 movies had, the tension , the epic, the final part that makes you sweat until the end, the sense of discovery, the magic of seeing new worlds.
It didn't recapture that to me.

It did a lot great things though. But it failed on way too many important points.

I would add, that simply put,
-the originals had great ideas, well executed.
-the prequels had great ideas, poorly executed
-SW7 had bad ideas, well executed

I downloaded it immediately after seeing it in theaters. Watched it multiple times. Still not in love with it.

It's an entertaining family movie, sure. But it's the worst Star Wars movie we could have hoped for.

Zero original ideas, bad remake of SW4, designed for kids and teens + fan service. Which feel way too much after the already useless fan service seen in the prequels, I already hated it in the prequels.

The story and "force" system don't fit anymore with the more complex (and more adult) original Star wars Universe (seen in SW4, 5 and 6). Which in itself was already a very simplified science fiction system.

But try to read Isaac Asimov, Franck Herbert or even Vernor Vinge science fiction books after watching the kid movie Star Wars 7 LOL.

Between being poor copy of New Hope, uncountable plot holes, Force powers/Jedi training out of the sky, the most ridiculous villain and complete lack of charm, it was exactly what I expected - everything Jar Jar Abrams touches, turns to shit.

Its only saving grace was Harrison Ford.

I enjoy it a lot. Saw it three times in theaters. I hardly ever watch a movie more than once.

I enjoyed it a lot the first time I saw it, but still was left with a feeling that something was missing. But when I saw it a second time I did NOT enjoy it. The high was gone and it felt extremely bland, and I was really cringing at some parts. It was like a big budget fan film. All of my excitement for the other movies has died.

Liked it the first time, liked it just as much when I saw a few days later. I don't tend to change my mind about how much I like a movie after I watch it again. I'd probably put it as my 3rd favourite Star Wars movie.

I was very satisfacted the first time I've watched it. And to be honest, I'm still happy, just not that happy.

Would change my original score (8) to 7 I think.
