Its not really brand association, its more about which box does the fans of a game have.

Most people will buy the inferior version if most fans have that machine. Refer to the 6th gen and 7th gen if you don't believe me. You'll see many examples.

I'm still puzzled as to why these sorts of ''articles'' or ''analysis'' exists.

I have this blown up at aprox 129'' and I see no difference whatsoever.

Where were they in the PS2/xbox days, you know, when one version made the other version look like a last gen title and in some places effect the gameplay???

I can tell you this, the Dark Souls fanbase knows damn well which version of the game runs better. We are talking about a niche, hardcore game with a faithful fanbase.

Dark Souls is not the type of game that little timmy buys at Gamestop by looking at the cover.

It would be pretty silly to buy the X1 version of this game if you already own a Ps4.

That might have been true at the time when Demon Souls released, but IMO it outgrew its niche status. The 3 DS + Blodborne had sold like 10 million copies at retail alone and then add in digital sales from consoles and PC. Its not niche anymore, and its fairly popular on Youtube and Twitch as well. It became a fairly popular mid-tier genre, that it created all by itself and seems that there are plenty of developers these days whom want a piece of the DS pie

You mean pre-2006 when nowhere near the same amount of people had internet service?

It was common knowledge among avid gamers OG Xbox had significantly better graphics. You didn't even need comparison videos to show the difference.

You could look at a OG Xbox games and see that thing was a fucking beast. Numerous games were coming to Xbox only just because PS2 couldn't handle them.

Stinks. Especially since Scholar of the First Sin was (mostly) 60 fps on both consoles. I really wish From targeted 60 fps with all of these games. They're done it before (again, SOTFS), and it makes the experience much more enjoyable. Oh well.

Maybe your response to him was irrelevant as well. Graphics comparisons were a popular topic pre-2006. I remember when PS2 released a popular topic was how its graphics compared to Dreamcast.

If anything, this topic became more interesting with video, frame rate analysis, etc. But still a topic primarily discussed by forum dwellers.
