I can tell you this, the Dark Souls fanbase knows damn well which version of the game runs better. We are talking about a niche, hardcore game with a faithful fanbase.

Dark Souls is not the type of game that little timmy buys at Gamestop by looking at the cover.

It would be pretty silly to buy the X1 version of this game if you already own a Ps4.

That might have been true at the time when Demon Souls released, but IMO it outgrew its niche status. The 3 DS + Blodborne had sold like 10 million copies at retail alone and then add in digital sales from consoles and PC. Its not niche anymore, and its fairly popular on Youtube and Twitch as well. It became a fairly popular mid-tier genre, that it created all by itself and seems that there are plenty of developers these days whom want a piece of the DS pie
