Knowing and not knowing still does not make the situation any different.  A closure is a closure and most companies will relocate the people who they want to keep and not the rest.  I have been on both sides of the fence where the company was bought out and we did not find out until it was reported on the BBC and a straight closure.  In both situations the parent company kept the people they wanted and the others were left with options.  Most options involved severance packages that are pretty generous in helping you stay afloat while you look for other employment.  I believe if the company find you new employment they do not have to pay you’re a severance package which probably is more a cost saying maneuver than anything else.

100% correct.

The only difference here is the spin that certain supporters or fans want to put on the message.  The end result for employees of these two companies is identical... they lost their jobs.  nSome, probbaly at both firms will have found wrok at other studios or formed their own studios.  But the parent company let them go in both cases.

We need to get over this MS = evil, Sony = cuddly pal of the planet and puppies.

You have to give it to Sony, this whole gen they have made the right marketing choices and how they deliver information to the public.  Personally I would call it masterful because they are able to keep good will when they do what most corporations do that pisses consumers off.  The fact that they are able to do business as usual and make it seem like they do somthing different and better than other companies has to be given credit.  Its a thing Apple has mastered and MS could definitely take something from this playbook as well.

Huh, I didn't know that letting go and reallocating developers to other projects are the same thing ...

trying to reallocate... words.

Similar =/= Identical... words.

This is really bad news. I have nearly every title they made and I have enjoyed their racers.

Drive club never ever made sense, Sony have GT no need for another racer, though what makes me worry is Media Molecule could be next to go as i think Dreams will bomb.

That's like saying Gears or war never made sense, MS have Halo, no need for another shooter.
DC is a great cross between PGR and NFS when that was still a good track racer. What other arcade like track racer is there?

Burnout is gone, Motorstorm gone, PGR is gone, GRID is absent, NFS is bleh. So all we have if FH2 and DC for a bit of arcade racing. Maybe Trackmania turbo can fill the itch, overall it's been a poor showing for racers this gen. At least Dirt Rally is coming to give the lackluster WRC series some competition.

Didn't Sony just offer jobs to former Lionhead developers? Kinda messed up.

That is such sad news... I have like 5 or 6 games from them and loved them all.

There was one time a mention of Driveclub with VR working. Now that Evolution is no more, is that dead also or is that still comming? Anyone has some thing on this matter?

Proudest Platinums - BF: Bad Company, Killzone 2 , Battlefield 3 and GTA4

No Surprised. Its a business industry. Companies need to make profit and need to keep those that are talented and have a future ahead of them. I will get hate from this but the truth is, DriveClub isn't that great. Strip away the graphics and your left with what is one of the most generic racing games on the market. Its Metacritic sits on a 71/100 and USER a 60/100. The reasons it sold was due to its hype of being the next Forza Killer and being the only exclusive Racing game on the PS4.

Goes to show and teach many gamers today that graphics mean nothing if the game isn't great in the first place. The reason many of my friends brought it was because they didn't have any other options and I am sure many were sold on the visuals alone believing it would be a good game underneath.

Sorry Evo but your game just didn't cut it.

Same can be said for LionHead Studios.

Im guessing the next Gran Turismo will be compatible with VR at least.
