Forums - Nintendo - "Alleged" photo of NX controller "leaked": We might as well discuss this now

Depends how you want to look at it. Whenever a game that used both the TV screen and the gamepad on WiiU forced the player to look at the gamepad's screen you were missing the full picture too, but that didn't prevent the player from having fun, did it?

Same case scenario here, just now with sticks on the screen!

How am I supposed to play smash with this? HOW?

Unlikely.

If NX is a home console, I'll be shocked if it outsells the Gamecube.

I don't get this line of thinking. So is Nintendo just doomed to fade in obscurity no matter what or...?

I just can't see any realistic way out of the tailspin they've gotten themselves into. They can't compete with Sony in the console space, they can't compete with mobile in the portable space, and there are no more blue oceans to retreat to.

I mean, you tell me, how can they possibly escape from the bind they're in now, with stronger rivals hemming them in on all sides?

By plugging in the Gamecube controller with an NX Gamecube controller adaptor.

LAWL! This makes the original PS3 "Batarang" controller look amazing by comparison.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Guys, it's so obviously fake.

Please give me one good reason to believe you.

I'm not challenging you. I'm begging.

and photoshopping isn't the only way to fake something like this.  There's a lot of reason to think this could be fake.

The angle in particular the shot is being taken could be explained by people not knowing how to take a picture, but should still be a factor for this.  It's not impossible for someone to have created some kind of shell to look like the patent (because that's very much what it looks like) and created some print-out to glue onto it.  Likely to make it less obvious, they probably put the analogs on after the print-out.

The other thing that points to it being fake is a line from the article that produced the image showing it wasn't heavily photoshopped.

"However, there are seeming inconsistencies with the lighting sources in the image, which mean this should still be taken with a decently sized grain of salt."

Honestly. After looking at this. It very well might be real. Idriss2Dev claims that it's "pretty cool and new". If my little theory is correct, this baby is going to be amazing! I think that people are just jumping to conclusions that this is the console controller. I think that this might be the new handheld, and holy shit it looks amazing if this is the case. It's also very eerily similar to the Pokken controller.

For one. It's design is very much inline with a handheld device, and a damn comfortable one at that. It rather makes me feel that in terms of comfort, it will be closer to the original GBA, and this baby looks far more ergonometric and functional than any cellphone on the market. Scroll wheels look very functional for mobile web-browsing with ease. Control sticks look acceptable for a handheld design. Appears to be easy as hell to port any mobile game thanks to the haptic buttons, they could be potentially responsive as well. This is a very easy cash in for Nintendo to port mobile games on the e-shop. Almost ridiculous to be honest. Due to this, contradicting most rumors, porting PS4 and XBO games looks like a BITCH! While the screen looks blurry. I could be wrong, but I don't think 1080p at 60 fps is as expensive as many think it to be. The 900p rumors could very well be pertaining to this.... not the console, which is inexcusable to be anything less than 1080p in 2016.

I would like someone to provide evidence of where it states that this is a console controller. If I recall correctly. The patent said that this is a device that can connect to a console. Can is a very powerful word. I believe it was stated somewhere that a handheld counterpart was able to save, and take games on the go. This could very well be Nintendo's greatest handheld to date.

No the B is corect, the camera is on the bottom of the screen. This spot can also be seen in the patent. Also it's worth mentioning that you can see the scroll shoulder buttons on the top. I highly doubt they would be on the bottom. Would you use your thums on them and your fingers on the analoug sticks and support the controller with your middle fingers?

Please explain to me how moving the analog sticks works when they are physically fused to the controller, and please tell me how this thing will handle literally any action game with complex button presses, and I'll concede that this is going to be "amazing."

Because all I see is no fighting games, no hack-n-slash games, no platformers, no Smash, no Pokken, no hope. None of that stuff is going to work without buttons.

I am actually curious as to why you think those kinds of games won't work. It all comes down the responsiveness of the touch buttons. Remeber that his is a gaming device first, not a phone that supports games as a secondary function. For all we know ,the "haptic feedback" could in theroy, be strong enough that we feel our every tap on the screen. Our mental state should be able to adapt to this. It also likely that developers will be able to place their buttons anywhere they want to suit their games. Traditionally when you start playing a game. Our minds natually remember the button placements. When we put the game down for a year, and come back to play the game halfway through. We often find ourself minorly confused by the controls momentairly a little more than we did when we started the game. Partilaly because we are at a more complex part, allowing us to not ease into the game as effectively. The arugment in this case, from a developer point of view. Is that we would be able to ease into the controls within the first 5 minutes of gameplay. Most games are designed to ensure the players can easily grasp the controls in the first 5 minutes, and most gamers are completely unaware that this is occuring nor that they are simply adjusting to the game by design. Not by skill level, skill comes as we progress the game. No matter how natual of a hardcore gamer you are, you must learn how to imput your commands. Ninja Gaiden 2 was notroious for breaking this rule of thumb. In such a sense. This controler is actually a godsend to developers to realise their visions for a proper control methood that is exclusively perained for their game only.

As for the analog sticks. I can see what you mean after observing them. They seem to be that they slide like the 3DS nub. It also looks like it slides far more gracefully than the nubs seen on the 3DS or PSP. As they slide underneath the shell, rather than above  the shell. Likely so it doesn't distact the player on the screen, even in considereation of our thumbs. In additon the analog nub (what the hell do we even call this?) looks like it could click in. The right stick looks like this is a possiblity, but it's very difficult to tell.

Some people are missing the full picture here. If the image is indeed real, you don't have to worry about third-party support. Nintendo will probably have tons of first-party games ready to work with this new and exciting controller.

Wright, Wright, Wright...

Everyone is going to miss the full picture here, because there are sticks on the screen.

For what it's worth, whether the image is real or not probably has little impact on third-party support.

In the patent, there were handlers to this controller. Now they're gone. I mean, you can't possibly take the only thing that could make this controller feel comfortable xDDDDDD.

I think they can easily take on Sony, as long as they don't have this controller. Sony lost the only generation where it had real compitition. If the NX has a controller with traditional buttons, a second screen, and a sleek and urganomic design, everything else we know about it will, I'm sure, absolutely steal PS4's thunder. Especially if Nintendo embraces cross-play with the XBO. I don't think PS4 will stop selling well, but I think the PS4 will be the 360 to the NX's Wii in terms of sales. But it'll be worse because, inlike with the Wii vs. 360, the NX will actually be competing directly for PS4's consumers.

The PS4 and XBO are at 60m combined now. If the generation is the same as before, that leave 100m consumers who have yet to jump onto next gen, and NX is going to take the majority of them from the moment it launches.

As long as it doesn't launch with this stupid controller.

I would be disappointed if this was the new controller, but I'd probably still give it a chance. If this is real i would much prefer if it was like there weird idea of making a controller add on for their mobile games.
