The differnce is... with NX theads there is no 100% confirmed real news... becuase nintendo has kept quiet for more than a year.
Which means 1 years worth of empty speculation and rumor threads.

The OR has the better hardware when it comes to lenses (not sure about that one but the lenses are superior to the Vive lenses) and audio ,also it has 2 screens instead of one. Which is great for IPD it has a bigger FOV an IPD Slider. Also Resolution is higher in the Oculus. (even though PS VR has full RGB Oled for each pixel).
Sony made an incredible headset for an incredible price. However even they know that it is inferior to the Rift (strictly speaking about the Hardware.) I thinkm the main issue is that PS VR has just a single screen and Oculus has two built in which has certain advantages for VR.

This Sony even said it is worse than Oculus themselves in therms of hardware. How much confirmation does one need. But it's the games which will make the difference anyway.

I'm not saying whether Oculus or PsVR will sell well or not. But we don't know how many of each have been promised to retailers. Remember the original Kinect sold out its first 4 shipments before launch. Also recently Surfacebook sold out for over a month worth of preorders before launch.
Oculus and PSVR selling out preorders was expected. People with high disposable income will just buy regardless. Its the other 95% of the population that matters where product success is concerned.

Ah you are making the same mistake that I made. Basically the sold out is the initial launch day stock. Once that was through, then amazon and others put it back up, but are saying that you wont get it for launch. They are doing what they did with the PS4 launch.
I saw on the internet "Sold out/Unavailable" messages, but was able to pre-order it, but my release date is currently 1st-2nd of November, whether i ordered early enough to be part of that initial batch is unknown. I guess as others have said, Sony have time (considering how far october is away) to start building more VR units. I feel that I should have it on launch day and I think anyone buying in the first few weeks should as well.

This must be hard times for some of those Xbox/Nintendo-enthusiasts who so badly want PSVR to fail.

Well the orginal kinect was a success (especially first year) the problem was the lack of games.

it was view hours after the announcement when it did in fact sell out and was restocked after it me thinks
