Ah you are making the same mistake that I made. Basically the sold out is the initial launch day stock. Once that was through, then amazon and others put it back up, but are saying that you wont get it for launch. They are doing what they did with the PS4 launch.
I saw on the internet "Sold out/Unavailable" messages, but was able to pre-order it, but my release date is currently 1st-2nd of November, whether i ordered early enough to be part of that initial batch is unknown. I guess as others have said, Sony have time (considering how far october is away) to start building more VR units. I feel that I should have it on launch day and I think anyone buying in the first few weeks should as well.
