Forums - Microsoft - Is There Any Reason To Buy an Xbox now?

Has the Xbox Brand Been Devalued?

Yes 212 38.34%

A Little 99 17.90%

No 198 35.80%

The Brand Is Stronger Now 44 7.96%

Total:553

Well I guess the biggest reason now would be its price, seeing that its cheaper then your average gaming PC and can still run the game, in addition to being able to play in your living room compared to a gaming PC which can only do that with an investment in a smaller case and smaller components, which can be more expensive in some cases.

You don't remember all the LizardSquad attacks and the PS4 servers being shut down quite a bit during that time?

I remember both services seeing similar treatment. I have also read this. Like I said, give me some sources and I'll let that comment stand. Otherwise, it would probably not help anything to continue to highlight it.

The fact that it's news that Micrsoft has been down more times this year than Sony should be a hint.

I own a Xone and PS4 and must say I hardy had the experience of PSN or Xlive being down =p. (Not counting the hours when they announced they will work on the service) but that would be the same if I call my internetprovider shit because it has been down for 12 hours in 2015 (and mostly during the night).

Are there reasons to buy a ps 4?
Yes? Same goes for XB1
No? Same goes for XB1

Very, VERY few people are interested in buying a gaming PC.

You can't know that.

OT: Of course. While I agree, to an extent, that a chunk of the reasons to pick up the system are gone, take a close look at it. If they were offering their 1st party stuff everywhere on PC (not just locked to Win10/WinStore), it would certainly make it a harder sell.

As things currently stand, though, there are still plenty of reasons to pick it up.

No, but I can assume that most people who buy PCs does it for productivity, movies and some basic gaming, and are not interested in upgrading the hardware every couple of years.

And do you really think that people choose consoles because of exclusive games and therefore accept lower quality performance of all the third party games, or that something else is behind the choice? There is no question that some gamers (like those hanging around these sites) focus on exclusive titles, but we are in the minority. Just look at sales of the most succesful exclusives last gen on 360, selling about 10-15 million on a 80 million userbase. That is a pretty big signal as to how important exclusives really are.

I have a decent Laptop and haven't played a single game on it in 5 years.

The question should be, "PC gamers, is there any reason to buy an Xbox now"

Edit: Actually I played Wow a few years back and my brother uses it to play Dota :p

You're asking the wrong question. I don't think Microsoft cares about the consoles because console sales aren't traditionally profitable. They care about their userbase, because it's games and peripherals that make the profit. The real question is whether this is going to improve the userbase, and that's a pretty difficult question all things considered. Yes, the userbase is going to be much, much larger. However, it's more difficult to predict how large portion of the userbase is going to have hardware suitable for gaming.

Anyway, Microsoft is probably moving in the right direction. Gaming and computing are changing, and this seems to be the future. The question is whether the timing is right or not.

Of course Xbox will loose potential sales from this, they will also gain a lot if executed properly

I dont game on a PC, so how else am I going to play the games?

I'm not a PC gamer. I have a Hybrid for all normal tablet/pc stuff. I prefer console gaming.

This gen my faveourite titles are : Killer Instinct, Halo 5, Forza Horizon 2, Forza 6, Peggle 2, Ori and The Blind Forest, Sunset Overdrive, Rayman Legends, Max The Curse Of Brotherhood, Titanfall, Witcher 3, Rise Of The Tomb Raider, Gears Ultimate Edition and Halo MCC.

Theres a lot there I couldn't play on a PS4. And as I'm not that interested in Sonys exclusives Id be disappointed with missing those. Ive also gone off Japanese games. I used to love them, but the last 10 years Iv gone off all the series I liked.

Its personal preference.

If you like Sonys exclusives and lso game on a decent PC then Microsoft invites you to Xbox on Windows 10. Where you can come and play Killer Instinct, Quantum Break alongside Xbox console. As 1 big Xbox family.

Its all good.
