Forums - Nintendo - It's safe to say that Nintendo won't launch new hardware this year.

When will we see a see a new Nintendo system?

Handheld, 2016 60 22.14%

Home console, 2016 109 40.22%

Handheld, 2017 15 5.54%

Home console, 2017 17 6.27%

Handheld + Home console, 2017 58 21.40%

later 12 4.43%

Total:271

Today is the last day of February, two months of 2016 have passed and we haven't heard ANYTHING about NX. No teasers, no PR talk etc.

I don't know how Nintendo wants to launch a new system this year without promotion long before. They need to promote their new systems, they don't have many consumers left, otherwise it will flop totally.

So, in my opinion it's safe to say that Nintendo won't launch new hardware this year, at least definitely no new home console.

Desperation. Now that every leak points to being released this year you are in desperation. I wonder how you will react when they announce it and the release this holiday season.

Oh, btw, by that logic we can confirm no Zelda or new games coming to Wii U in 2016.

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

I agree that it's very odd that we're now a day from March 1st and they've said nothing about it. In January I would've guaranteed that Nintendo would unveil details about NX in a February Direct. Despite this, I still think it's releasing this year because of all the leaks. I question Nintendo's strategy though of waiting so long into the year to unveil it.

I disagree. Like Pavolink said, there have been many leaks that keep mentioning that the NX will be coming this year. The thing about it is that we don't know if it's going to be a home console, a handheld console, or even both.

Kimishima has confirmed that NX will launch during the upcoming fiscal year, so even if you are desparate for a non-2016 launch of NX, you are left with only a three month window. But realistically, Nintendo will aim for a holiday launch.

Source? This is the first time I heard of him saying that.

People are still in denial?

So I'm in desperation because I actually want Nintendo to be successful once again and not like the vast majority of this community?

Oh and btw, there's a difference between a game and a console.

Didn't the President of Nintendo when asked in the last investors meeting what ways would Nintendo make Nintendo like profits in the FY'17 he say that the 2 ways were the mobile business and their NX business? Also the guy who leaked the Pokemon Moon/Sun codename and Disney Art Academy also leaked that the NX would lauch this year so no matter what the NX is,be it home/handheld/hybrid console,it's almost absolutely launch this year

Lol. He never said this. You should better do some research before saying this.

What? Because I do some logical thinking? If anybody is in denial then the people who think that I'm in denial.

No, there's nothing that indicates that NX will be released in 2017, yet we have some leaks (true, maybe all of them are wrong), but we even have some Nintendo's info that points to a 2016 release. Plus it just doesn't make sense to drag the WiiU more time. It's failing sales-wise, and it's definitely time to move on. Zelda would be the last big effort we'll see for the WiiU.
