No idea. Maybe they feel four years is too short for the Wii U and want a fifth. However I'd argue that there is no reason to drag the Wii U on for another year, especially after Zelda releases this year on it.

There was no need for a fifth years for many of Nintendo's systems. WiIu having only 4 years is perfectly ok.
