I'll reserve judgment until I get to play it in March but right now I'll go with Smash followed by Street Fighter V

Its critics are right (in my view) to call it out on a lack of content/modes/server problems, but the core mechanics are some of the best in years!

The core experience is rock solid. Now they need to add lobbies for more than 2 players!

Yeah, no. Tekken 7 isn't out yet.

It's good to have lots of fighters in the industry after it's slow death in mid 2000s however.

I'm so God damn excited for Tekken 7.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Technically Smash Brothers is classed as a Party game not a Fighting game like KI. Different games different markets.

It is? According to?

Smash can be considered many genres, but its discribed as a beat 'em up and resembles more a beat 'em up then a fighting game. To say Smash plays anything like SF/KI/MK etc is like me saying Splatoon is FPS.

Labeled fighter however fighter can mean many things just like shooting can mean many things.

In a gen with many fighters present, I don't think anyone can agree on which fighter is the best. You could probably give it to almost any of them. Street Fighter, Smash Bros, MK, KI, etc., could all be good fits.

Personally, I'd give it to smash.

Agreed! It's all about personal preference at this point. There are so many good fighters out right now there's no one dominant #1, which I think is good for the industry.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Killer instinct for sure. SF5 match making/ lack of content and more keeps the game from being appealing. Killer instinct is definantly the best this generation. Microsoft already has the best shooters and best racing games. Now they have the best fighting game.

I think this falls in the "If you can't beat the competition, disqualify them" category. To avoid people putting Smash over your game of choice, you've simply decide to disqualify it because it makes your claim easier to defend with one less competitor.

But Smash is very much a fighting game, it's part of EVO (which is the largest fighting game tournament in the world) and fighting games sites like EventHubs have it right there on the front page. I would be better to just accept that it does qualify as a fighting game and simply state why you think Killer Instinct is better.

Did you actually read the genre in that source?

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Platform: Wii

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Genre: Fighting<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Rating: Parental Guidance,PG

Publisher: Nintendo

Release Date: Out Now

Quote from add - *The superlative, smash hit beat 'em up Super Smash Bros.* funny choice of words Nintendo use to sell there game.

Smash can be classed as alot of genrs, it can even be classed as a platformer. You saying Smash is a fighting game like KI or SF is like you saying Gears or Uncharted is COD because there Shooters.

Fighter can mean alot of things for a game. Being a fighter doesnt mean its a Street Fighter lol. Just like being a Shooter doesnt mean its a FPS.
