Surprisingly, Windows 8/10 run signficantly better on slower machines than Windows Vista/7. I have Windows 10 running on an old Pentium 4 PC, works fine. That same PC runs like crap using Vita/7.

Also, Windows 10 doesn't have high GPU requirements. Most PCs at retail have low end GPUs. Many could potentially run the original release of Gears, but not Ultimate Edition.

I know MS won't do it. But they really should bring their catalog to Windows Store.

I wasn't talking of GPU requirements, I was talking of the usual requirements each OS would require as a standard. YOu running a modern OS on much older builds is just you, not 100% of all ancient builds btw.

Again those with crappy PC's can buy the game and run it on low, or be a smart person and upgrade their hardware to play it to how they want.

I wish MS would bring their entire catalog to Steam as well as their Win10 store, I'd totally support those games if they were given mod support and weren't locked to just a single OS, they would get my money after day 1.

I know what you were talking about. I'm a PC tech and I've repaired hundreds of PCs. Many old PCs can run WIndows 8/10 AND they run better than Vista/7.

Ya know... not all PCs (such as laptops) can be upgraded and many PC users don't want to upgrade their PC but still want to play games. Some of the most popular PC games have low requirements and I'm sure that's to make those games accessible on more PCs.

A low end gaming PC that can potentially run the original version of Gears may not be able to run Ultimate Edition at all, even at lowest settings. The requirements are so different. The minimum requirements of UE are much greater than the ideal for the original Gears.

Does anybody know which games are actually exclusive to Xbox anymore? It almost seems like you'll just be able to download all of them off the Windows Store, before too long...

Hopefully none soon. I want to play all Halo and GeoW on my PC.

A world with no consoles....

Kinda reminds me of first Quake's system requirement, although don't get excited, Windows store apps is like living in the sandbox, just warning you.. According to Chazore.

It's not "according to Chazore", but what actually happens:

http://wccftech.com/windows-store-terrible-support-games-microsoft-fix/

Let’s take Rise of the Tomb Raider as an example. The Windows Store version of the game is an app built with the Universal Windows Platform, an app architecture first introduced with Windows 10. The main goal of the UWP (designed as an extension of Windows Runtime) is to allow developers to create applications that can run on multiple devices such as PC, phones, tablets or even Xbox One; this obviously fits Microsoft’s overall strategy about a larger, interconnected Windows ecosystem.

The big problem is that UWP apps have severe limitations right now when it comes to gaming. For instance, there is no way to enable Exclusive Fullscreen mode as Borderless Fullscreen is enforced. While the latter mode is useful to go back easily to Windows via Alt-Tab, it should be an option (just like in every PC game) rather than an obligation, mostly because it brings certain disadvantages.

Borderless Fullscreen mode generally brings a slight performance loss, for starters, and more importantly it enforces V-Sync; Nixxes, the studio responsible for the PC version of Rise of the Tomb Raider, confirmed that there is currently no way to prevent this in the UWP framework.

Enforcing V-Sync brings another share of issues to the table. Again, this should be an option rather than an obligation as in any PC game; V-Sync introduces input lag, as most of you already know, and there are better options nowadays to prevent tearing. For instance, NVIDIA’s GSYNC cannot be enabled as long as V-Sync is enforced, and people have paid a significant premium when they bought their displays specifically to use GSYNC.

There’s more, anyway. NVIDIA SLI & AMD CrossFire aren’t supported, much to the dismay of those of you who own multiple discrete GPUs; there is no compatibility with several overlay programs either, such as Afterburner, FRAPS and even the popular post-processing injector ReShade. Finally, downloads are inexplicably slow and even patches are being rolled with a substantial delay (maybe Microsoft is running them through some kind of certification, though this is just a guess).

It’s important to note that the blame rests squarely on Microsoft and the limitations imposed by the UWP framework. In fact, the Steam version of Rise of the Tomb Raider suffers from none of the aforementioned issues.

See, that's the major problem with "Windows Store App", couldn't believe it, it's Games for Windows over again.

Also, forget about ""according to Chazore", i was sleepy yesterday. xD

Still doesn't change that some older PC's won't be able to run 10 the way you do, you out of 7 billion who's apparently repaired hundreds of PC's out of some billion.

External GPU's that work with laptops (case not even needed)

Mini ATX builds that can be cheaper than full and mid tower builds (not having exactly the same power though)

Users who don't want to upgrade their hardware at all I would imagine PC gaming not being for them, by not upgrading for years and eyars, you are at fault with no one else to blame, same with someone who decides to stick with their PS2 for years and never upgrade to a PS3/4, your own fault.

Like I said they can play those "popular games" at low settings, they can play QB and TR at low/medium settings, however they want, but they don't need the original game at all, not unless they are rocking a PC from the early 2000's to which I would call them backwards for sticking with old tech for mroe than a decade (no way out of that one, I;m so sorry but there just isn't, if you've been poor and in the same position without doing anything in your life to improve to be able to aford a slight upgrade then I;m so sorry for you doing diddly squat to change that situation).

As of right now Gears 4, Scalebound, and Crackdown 3 are still Xbox exclusive but I fully expect all 3of those to hit PC.

Win 10 exclusivity : No buy, this is effing GfWL 2.0 and I won't give them any of my hard earned kopek.

MS making this stuff Windows 10 only seems to be setting these games up for failure on PC imo. But hey I'm no PC expert so what do I know .

Go find some older computers and try installing both Windows 7 and Windows 8/10. You'll see I'm right.

For some reason you think I'm wrong but you clearly don't know anything about this.

No I'm trying to point out that it just works for you on *some PC's* not all in an objective sense, because they workded for you out of millions of different builds, you somehow think that's a fact when it's really not.
