Forums - Gaming - Why Sony Won't Deploy PS4 Exclusives on PC

Ms can't really pressure sony into following suit. With the xbox one selling significantly lower than the PS4, I doubt sony is feeling enough pressure to turn on a sink. That doesn't mean MS won't be a threat next gen. Lastly, it doesn't make any sense for sony to put their 1st party games on PC. If both sold roughly the same, it might be a different story because there would be serious competition between the two. Competition forces companies to compromise on things they wouldn't have otherwise.

Exactly, remember when online multiplayer was free? MS pressured Sony with Xbox Live and they had to make PS+ and charge for online to boot. That's what pressure looks like.

Catch shit for free online multiplayer being unstable compared to charging for online multiplayer and being able to upgrade then maintain it while making money off of it.

Oh Yes, keeping online multiplayer free is logical.

Yea, and thank God they aren't MS.

That's some wishful thinking right there.  I know it sucks that MS is going to lose every true exclusive list from now on, but there is absolutely no reason for Sony to switch to PC, too.  And I think you're last two sentences more accurately describe the PS4.

Sony execs dream of Ms like success. Sony know that hardware isn't the future. Software as a service is. Fans need to suck that up, it's what will happen. No question, no doubt.

That's complete and utter bullshit. How exactly are you going to access a service that isn't A) connected To the Internet or B) on some form of hardware? There is a need for hardware no doubt, the real race is to the first platform that truly offers everything and after 30+ years we still have no victor thanks to capitalism and the free market. If software as a service was the future then why has Ms recently tried pushing the Xbox, the Windows tablet or windows phone on us? Those all could be seen as a service that are better handled from a hardware perspective by at least a dozen companies. Wishful thinking kowen, go ahead and suck that up.

We can't even have this discussion until Apple, Google and Microsoft decide to hangout. And as long as we have two or more major players, there is no reason why the other guys won't try to penetrate that hardware pie.

With the success of Ps4, The consumer has shown Sony the confidence they need to push ahead with their ecosystem. As it stands right now, I am not concerned at all with the future of PlayStation. Nor do I expect them to start releasing games on any other platform, unless it's at the cost of an arm and a leg via PsNow.

Ms like success with what? I know that you're not talking about the gaming market because MS hasn't done that well in it compared to it's competition. I'm sure Sony would rather have Apple like success with their other products though.

There were many before who thought that console gaming would have died off by now but it hasn't.

Funny thing is that, now that's its changed for PS4, instead of not complaining about stability people now complain about stability AND having to pay for it.

Truth be told logics don't really apply for whether or not online multiplayer should be free or not because its circumstantial.

I was free then because Sony need an edge over a superior service and it was smaller than Live.

Now with the PS4, PSN + PS+ is equivalent to Live and it has just as many users.

Both circumstances made sense and their converses made sense as well, it's just a matter of what they wanted to achieve.

They want you to buy PS4's. Microsoft seems to have a hard on for bringing Xbox closer and closer to the PC, which Sony should not be doing. Microsoft wants to take on Steam and Sony at the same time all they have to do is say so.

Crapgamer has a few points though.

There are people that legit bought a Xbox One, for this one game, that wouldnt have if they from the start said it was on both.

Its kinda false advertiseing, or atleast tricking people into buying a product.

And why is Membership 60$/year , if its free on pc, and they get the same games & services?

Why would someone so incredibly hyped for Quantum Break that they would buy a $400 console to play it, not follow any news or articles about Quantum Break? Because reading them, youd know the game was coming to PC. Sam Lake has said a boat load of times he wants the game on PC. The news here is that the game is coming day one to PC.

Anyone paying attention knew a PC release was coming. This was the general consensus in all the QB to PC threads we had here. But now its a shock.

So should we worry about these supposed people who bought a console solely for one game that was clearly coming to PC anyway? Is MS angering what has to be the tiniest niche of niches worth calling them "liars"? Theyre giving PC copies of the game away free with Xbone copies. Plus free copies of two other great games, and free DLC. But they lied!!!! Bill only bought the Xbox for this game! Its still boxed in his closet :(

Why do you think pay to play online works on consoles and failed miserably on PC? Its two very different breeds of gamers. And thats why MS catering to both is not a big deal.

For Pc gamers the big fuss will be if the game is NOT on Steam, not that it IS in a console. For Xbone owners they get lots of free goodies. For perspective console owners they can pick one console that doesnt have Quantum Break or one that does. And for MS they get new customers on either marketplace. Seems win win win win. Even non Xbone fans win, they get list warz fodder. The Xboss pleases all. We are humbled, Phil.

It was logical for sony to go that route and charge for it.

Sony had it free because no one at the time was charging for it until Ms did with the 360. I don't know what the xbox one's network is like but the PS4's multiplayer is alot more stable than it was on the PS3. We get free games and alot of discounts. The pros far outweigh the cons.

It's not going to be on Steam as predicted.

Good luck trying to sell that game on PC lol.
