The Xbox fans were almost driven out.
"Nintendo over doubles Sony in threads" <----- What do you mean by that?
Edit: oops! NVM! You mean in 2016! I thought the total amount of threads.
Pocky Lover Boy!

Well its good that they left. Honestly leaving because your console of choice isn't winning is laughable. Edit- I also noticed xb1gates hasn't been active in the last few week.s |
The way some people who are no longer here acted on this site over the years , and it's not just Xbox supporters reality didn't affect them then , they just either ignored it, twisted it or forecast that the future would vindicate them .
My only conclusion to that is there must be a point where reality becomes to much and you crack , not me I'm delusional to the end I know I'm the worlds greatest gamer guru Hallelujah.
Research shows Video games help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

This. we need a new Nsanity to post new threads for every scrap of MS/Xbox news that happens. jk
When all discussion is stuck in a single thread for a period of 2 or 3 years, you will naturally see fewer threads being created.
Furthermore, as has already been discussed here, there simply isn't as much Xbox-centric news as there is PlayStation or Nintendo news. Xbox is down to a single platform, while PS and Nintendo currently have 2 platforms ont he market. Xbox recieves hardly any news from Japan, while PS and Nintendo platforms have a steady stream of releases.
Big mixture of trying to keep discussion to a single thread for years and a barren period for news. Recipe for disaster.

I was talking in general with being active within that community. Not just popping up once a blue moon to say you are a part of a group and then go back to doing nothing with said group. It being a console *based* forum hasn't stopped the few of us from being active or making PC related topics, what's stopping this big group I've not seen or heard much of?. Could it be ebcause they aren't as interested in that part of the community?. Would that be the biggest shocker to you?. |
I just wrote that the PC community isn't big lol. It's in that very same post you quoted. Are you trying to tell me that these Steam users with 100+ games aren't PC gamers? Sure, they don't fit with your definition of "primarily participating in PC threads and not console threads and do not game on consoles", but they are still PC gamers...
For a second year running, I did the multi-platform VGC video game collection ratio polls last month. Maybe VGC is less busy than last year, but the only userbase that increased was the PS4. The WiiU participation was 50% lower, and Xbox reduced by up to 3 times.
Maybe people just don't leave their respectives compilation threads like some of you mention here, or the subject is not popular enough to get people to vote in the threads itself. Still, I will repeat the process during E3 (hopefully busier then), so be on the look out.

Well, all 3 campanies have "nation" threads. I think it's important to understand why the xbox fanbase decided to stay in one thread, many felt it was a toxic environment outside of it.
Again I don't expect them to match Sony or Nintendo but the level it's at is abysmal, even while accounting for those factors. Underrepresented no matter how you look at it really.
I mean, if your console of choice is treated like a joke and you feel like you can't even discuss your platform of choice in peace, wouldn't that make you at least think about sticking to one thread or leaving? I can hang with it, hell I've always posted outside the nation thread but your average poster that isn't heavily invested in the forum isn't going to stick around. How many new big regulars are there recently that have an xbox one? Not many if any
There's a lot more Wii U owners and Wii U talk than Xbox One, and no offense but that console isn't exactly Mr popular. The fanbase is just more chatty and is more embraced here. And that's something the Xbox community can do if there's a big enough effort on both ends.
From what I remember from the good ol days and why the Xbox fans are no longer as active:
1) they started dwindling and losing confidence when the ps3 started picking up steam. Most threads were about how the ps3 is being beaten by the underdog and how Sony will go bankrupt due to xbox dominance and being in the red.
2) many found a safe haven with MisterX
3) Nintendo and Sony fans have thicker skin than Xbox fans and can handle more abuse which is why they can stick it out over hard times.
4) a lot of the best threads came from sales gaps closing, big games going up against one another, scores and sales. These things no longer seem to have as much value due Sony dominating most charts.
5) Megatons - the threads that were created when popular Sony only games or known as Sony games although mp came to MS or had bigger MS affiliation:
GTA
DMC
Tekken
Final Fantasy
Many other JRPGs
I offer the Xbox community a thread idea:
Why killer instinct is better value and offering than SFV.
I've always considered the console wars as a great example of "cognitive dissonance":
I believe the participants in this war were mainly people who bought either a Playstation or an Xbox, despite the fact that they saw certain advantages in both systems. That led to cognitive dissonance, thus they were mainly trying to tell THEMSELVES that they had made the right decision.
During the last console generation, I believe this was still a real issue. None of the two consoles was actually far ahead, each had it's advantages. Graphics-/performance-wise they was hardly any difference at all, the differences were rather minor details: The PS3 looked better, was more quiet etc. The 360 on the other hand was very cheap. (The Wii didn't even really take part in that console war, it was way too different from these two very similar choices.)
This console generation is different: There simply is no actual console war, there is no real debate which console is actually better: Not even the most die-hard Xbox fan would still seriously doubt that PS4 is more powerful, it would just make one look like a biased moron. This generation's console war was over shortly after it even started: Xbox One lost, PS4 won.
Compare it to world war 2: After it became obvious that the allies won, nobody would still openly root for the Nazis. Maybe they kept certain sympathies for the Nazis in their hearts, but that's about it. So I guess with respect to Godwin's law it all comes down to: Xbox One = Hitler, Xbox One fans = Nazis, today = 1946.
