Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Mis-Typed Pokemon

Gyarados, and any Pokémon which is Normal/Something.

Normal/Something is just silly.

It is the same with charizard.Everybody asks why charizard is not a dragon and the truth is Dragon was a very OP type(and still is i guess).Combine that with fire and there would be very little ways to win against him.Since he was a starter that would make charmander an unbalanced choice.

And then you have Greninja >_>

Greninja's not unbalanced. He just has an amazing hidden ability. Nothing wrong with that

I used to think sodowoodo was a grass type, and there was a time when I couldn't figure the typing of Ludicolo (it's water/grass for some random reason)

Isn't he based on a cactus? Those usually have big amounts of water stored inside them, maybe that's why?

Not exactly, his evolution line is based off of this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kappa_%28folklore%29

Its japanese folklore, and in every anime I've seen with one it does make sense for it to be that typing.

Guess that's the problem since I don't watch a lot of animes. Still it was a struggle back in the day trying to kill that pokemon.

A lot of them have a large number of normal type moves and would recieve a damage penalty on all of them if they didn't have the element, also normals main weakness is fighting attacks, which Flying negates anyway so it isn't too bad.

Why are we suddenly talking about gameplay?

Well then if you are asking why things like a sparrow or a pidgey are considered Normal/Flying compared to Moltres being Fire/Flying I don't know what to say.... the ones that are more or less normal birds are normal? the ones made of fire or rock are not?

Chansey is of course a fairy type, but it keeps it's normal typing for metagame purposes (counter for Ghost types weak only to fighting moves that are uncommon among ghosts).

Also Xerneas and Florgess' family should both be Fairy/Grass; Sunflora should be Grass/Fire and all of those mons in 6th gen with type/normal or normal/type should only be of that said type.

AAAAAAAND in 10 or so years I could see Blaziken as a Fire/Fighting/Flying

I dunno, all those ones seem to make sense to me other than gyarados.
Hah, I remember when I caught my first magikarp and I had no idea about the game, I was like, I bet this thing turns into something amazing. It's just too bad too be something normal.

Lucario should definitely be Fighting/Psychic. Having caltrops on your hands isn't a Steel-type qualifier.

What about Palkia?
Steel-Dragon? heck no! Water-Dragon is better!

Psyduck.

The clue is in the name. It should be Psychic/ Water.
