I'm not that familar with the site but I was a visitor in the past.

I stopped viewing their videos a while ago, but they were really enjoyable and were definitely one of the best websites for gaming videos until youtube took over.

Quite frankly, we just don't need many of these gaming sites. For news we have so many different sites and YouTube is one of the best resources for previews/reviews.

Its just the industry changing. Less opportunites to be a games journalist for a major website, but we see many people doing well on YouTube, news blogs, etc.

Sad day. Used to frequent the site for almost all my video game news, reviews, AVGN, HAWP and trailers of course. Probably been 4 or 5 years since I last really checked it out though. Times changing indeed.

Yeah like many I used to visit there a lot. But youtube killed it for me. Still it's a pity adblock is a thing. Their margins would rise significantly if it wasn't and they could probably have kept the doors open.

Still though, I think their downfall was not fully embracing youtube early on instead of seeing it as a competitor. They could easily have been pulling in 100k a month if they embraced it.

Mostly liked Gametrailers because of ScrewAttack but they got their own site now.

You mean VGC? I did too. For at least 3 years the ads on VGC have been very taxing, but in the last couple of years so heavy that it's been impossible to browse for me here. It was part of the reason why a took a long break away from here.
I love this site, but I just don't understand how the ads here constantly could make such extreme lag.

I don't remember for sure, but one likely reason might have been their reviews, that they so blatantly favor the really big publishers. I don't mean the infamous Keighley controversy where he sat with bags of Dorito chips in the studio, an incident that apparently upset a lot of people, but just in general it bothered me that all big AAA games automatically got x% more than they deserved, although that's of course an extremely common phenomenon on almost all gaming sites.

It could also be that they revamped the site for the worse about 3 years ago, made it more like a blog where everything is presented in a long list, kinda like Kotaku. Stuff was hard to find and visually the site didn't please me anymore. I remember that change really upset me lol

There was a time when they were making great videos like the Final Fantasy Antology. Lately we were getting stuff like the Final Bosman or Mandatory Update so no surprise that people stopped visiting that site.
