Forums - General - Ex best friends forever ?

My old mate Kizz, I'm 3 years older than him, we used to get along great but I moved out to go to uni and his parents divorced which took him to odd regions of the country, so things got complicated for both of us. But we made a pact to stay in touch and even though it's hard we see each other about once every 6 months

Especially if hes ~ 600 miles away :P  Yeah , it would be nice if this would be true , but some relations just cant be kept over the internet or phone ... its just not the same . And it often becomes more of a weight for some ...

I've had many very good friends in my childhood and adolescense, but most of them have moved away (not too far though so we see each other several times a year).
My two very best friends (they're brothers) were snagged by two different occupancies; one is currently serving in Afghanistan and the other is serving his girlfriend...
Seriously, he's not permited to decide anything in their lives and they always do what she wants, including only seeing her family and friends!

 Of course we do tend to overlook/overcome our differences for the sake of keeping a friendship. But I don't believe there is such thing as "true friends" that will stay together no-matter-what.

 Cynical? Maybe, but I see myself as a realist. And as a realist, I won't have to bear as much emotional baggage this way.

 I really think i have true friends ... and i think we've passed through a lot to say that we are really friends in all the sense of the word, and that's why i think that your "realistic" point of view ... is more of a personal point of view ^^

hey, don't get me wrong, I am happy for you and I hope your friendship lasts forever.

I just rather look at it from the human instinct aspect for myself.
