Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft FY2016-Q2. Revenue $23.8 bn, Op Income $6.0 bn, Net profit $5.0 bn. Beating expectations AGAIN.

It is beyond ridiculous how German news sites are reporting on it compared to the English ones.
Great great great results, cloud business is just insane.

This has been a very successful day for Microsoft as Amazon disappoints investors at the very same day. It might take a while but sooner or later Azure will be No. 1 and AWS No. 2.

It is crazy that this GIGANTIC market is basically split between those two. IBM, Apple, Google, Oracle, etc. are not even close to monetize the cloud business as much as MS already does.

How are they reporting it exactly?

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Are you German?

German people like to look for negative news. You see us chilling at the beach, we will probably complain about the water temperature. It is in our DNA. We are always on time, we like to do things very accurate and we complain.

English ones:

"Rising Cloud Sales at Microsoft, Amazon Reflect Bigger Shift in Enterprise Market" Wall-Street Journal

"MarketWatch First Take: Microsoft gaining on Amazon in cloud" Market Watch

"Microsoft shares rise as it tops forecasts" Financial Times

German ones, obviously translated:

"weak PC market affects Microsoft negatively" German press agency

"Financial report: Microsoft Windows keeps on declining" golem.de

"Cloud business saves Microsoft from collapse" Handelszeitung

About the xb1 live 48 million users is that how many users have a gold account that played on 360+x1 or just how many people used their xbox?

it's how many people used their xbox (360 and/or one) in the last month, silver account is enough.

Alright, thanks for clarifying that.

Allright?

These "MAU" include the Windows10 numbers. We have no idea how many of those 48 Millions were from Windows10. Given X360 users are dying out rapidly, it is relatively safe to guess the 47% increase was mainly driven by Win10.

Doom! Doom! Yes, I say DOOM!!

Although, if they keep making all this money it's going to be hard to burn through that $100 billion cash they have sitting around.

Good job Microsoft.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Lol, this is exactly how I feel when I read about political issues in Norwegian and Swedish newspapers...

Damn Microsoft should just shut down their phone division selling less in the holiday quarter than the one before that is awful.

2015 - 3rd quarter (Microsoft 2016 1st quarter) - 5.8 million Lumia's and 25.5 million dumb phones.

2015 - 4th quarter (Microsoft 2016 2nd quarter) - 4.5 million Lumia's and 22.5 million dumb phones.

Should come as no surprise. The low-end market was a ray of hope that quickly vanished as chinese manufacturers adopted Android. The new premium Lumias come with unfinished software, Windows 10 mobile was delayed etc. But the good news is the Windows App store will potentially receive more/better app support, despite lagging smartphone sales, as hybird Windows tablets rise in popularity. It will potentially become a viable option for smartphone buyers by then. If not... who cares? MS is pushing its services to all devices and its paying off.

They never fail to impress, do they?

Holy Fuck!!! $5 Billion!!!!!!!!!!

Pocky Lover Boy!

So a little up YOY HW sales for the quarter... very good. Now let's see what VGC will do with this info.

on the profit side no comment since they are just brutal
