Forums - Nintendo - Why isnt Nintendo releasing more Wii Remasters in general? like Fatal Frame 4 for example

Probably due to the fact that the Wii U can play Wii games...

and that they can remaster them for the newer system if needed

Yep. I was about to say that. If the NX doesn't have BC (Which im guessing) then they might do more of it.

Plus theres a limit to how much Nintendo can do at the same time.

Well, the Wii U can play Wii games, so it's not really necessary. They could just re-release Wii games or something. It's much easier and cost efficient. Though I would buy a US release version of FFrame 4 in a heart beat xD

Wii U can play Wii games anyways.

They should localise some unreleased games on the eshop tho, would be amazing.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Nintendo has done more remasters in recent years, mostly with Zelda though. The reason why they don't do more is because they don't have to. The sad truth about the remasters is that we saw so many of them at the beginning of the 8th generation because the real 8th gen games weren't ready yet. That happened because many publishers didn't expect PS4 to sell as well as it did, nor did they expect Xbox One to recover. They thought the future was going to be in the mobile and PC markets.

I think we can expect to see fewer remasters for all systems as the 8th gen continues.

Why do it on a system where the outlook won't improve much no matter what you do, when you could save it for your brand new device?

because

A: Wii = Wii U, same architecture. It would cost alot more on the NX

B: the Wii U has huge droughts

Clearly Nintendo cares heavily about the droughts with such wonders as Amiibo Festival, MP10, and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash filling those gaps.

They've moved on. There's little reason to halfheartedly remaster a bunch of Wii games on a system nobody cares about anymore, especially when Wii U owners are probably the core fans that have most of the original games. The only reason we're getting TP, the lone exception here  that I can recall, is because Nintendo planned around Zelda U taking forever years ago and they wanted spring fodder after WWHD performed so well, and because they know we're all gullible enough to buy it at full price and love it. And all of this is disregarding the fact that Nintendo doesn't have the manpower to support two systems as it is, let alone setting aside resources for meaningful ports or even taking a risk on a third party doing your ports for you. If they had the resources I'd much rather have gotten a complete Mario Tennis and Galaxy on the eshop as an emulated game over a slightly-clearer 720p Galaxy port. We'll get a Galaxy in 900p in a year or so anyway.

You can use logic all you want but Nintendo doesn't care about your logic. We've not even gotten GC emulation or ports done outside of WWHD, let alone last gen games.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Gamecube would have been more sensible as they are really the only games the Wii U can't or at least hasn't been shown to emulate

This. They should be racing to put out TTYD, Mario Sunshine, a HD remake of Melee, and get games like Baten Kaitos and the like the HD treatment. I think they should talk with Konami to release Twin Snakes HD on Wii U or NX. People would go nuts for it.

Theoretically, Wii U should have no issue emulating Gamecube; it emulates Wii, which is the same architecture, just with more memory and 50% more CPU/GPU clockspeed.

I don't think its so much a matter of power as it is disc-drive abilities and othe things the Wii did to cater to GameCube BC. Regardless, it may ultimately make more sense to remaster games than to emulate it. I am not big on remastering games, but if Nintendo really wanted to appear as though they had a bigger line-up than they really have, remastering may be the way to go. Consumers seem to value many remasters over platform emulation when it comes to gaming lineups

Fatal Frame remaster is not worth it, just look at how NOA treated the latest release.

A simple digital VC release would do. GC and Wii should be emulated for their next gen systems.

Then you'd get more of these Japanese Wii games! I'd love to try PZ4, Takt of Magic and Zangeki no Reginleiv in all its 480p glory.
