Forums - Nintendo - Talking Point: Online Gaming Can't Recreate the Unique Fun of Local Multiplayer, Yet It's Dominant

Talking point - why is there 2 of this thread?

Around the Network

Because most gamers these days have no real life friends to play local multiplayer with. ;)

Local multiplayer is fun when you have people around to play with. But, I have found in my life, that gets tougher the older you get.

Its far more convenient to say to a friend "Hey hop online lets play some doubles in Rocket League" instead of "Hey hop in your car and drive over here so that we can play some doubles in Rocket League."

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

both offer uniqe and fun experiecnes

Online multi-player is a good option to have, but not has good as local, hopefully local will always be a thing.

Local will always be better, it's simply that online is a lot more convenient these days for most people.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Texting someone can't recreate actually speaking to them but people don't care. It's strange.

Local over online, no doubt about it. The only reason online dominates is because is far more convenient

At a certain age, local just becomes a one-time thing. People move, get married, have kids and less time to go to their friends' place to play games. Unless you're student, there's no way to do LAN parties anymore.

Both are fun.
