There's a time and place for reveals like that. I dont know why that's so difficult for some people to understand. They don't change their minds and spill the beans as soon as they get an interview. He didn't say "only" details. He said details. As he should. It's not a sign of anything.
When Sony invited the press to their "See the future event" they didn't even say that it would be the PS4 that they're unveiling. Was that a bad sign? They even denied that PS4 existed when asked about it just a while before that.
Saying that you're going to reveal the next console has nothing but negative effects on the continued sales of the current console. That's one of the reasons why you reveal things like that only when the time is right.

Exactly, you can't wait till June to announce something well release in Nov, it gives no time for the news to spread around. Worrying about the sales of a console which doesn't sell anyways is fairly pointless. How many Wii U's do they plan on selling due to TPHD, Pokken, or Star Fox Zero? Not really system sellers, and everything else is slated to release after E3 (which boils down to Genkei Ibun Roku #FE and Zelda U, one of which is another game that isn't a system seller). Say they even announce a new game we didn't know about, the odds are it is STILL going to release after the reveal of NX. 

Not to say it's impossible for it still to release this year, just every time an interview or event comes and goes with no news on the NX aside from "details will be released this year" the less and less likely it will actually release this year.

Even saying that they will reveal details about NX this year is more than Sony, MS and Nintendo said about their consoles at this point in their respective release year. Heck, Reggie openly talking about their next home console in July 2015 is way earlier than the three companies spoke about their next consoles. (PS4: 0 days, XB1: 0 days, WiiU: 48 days, NX: 210+ days and counting.)

So I can't tell you why he thinks that Nintendo revealing more about NX than they did about WiiU earlier in the year is proof that it's not releasing in 2016, when all the other consoles released in the same year in spite of them giving us less info about it. It seems like he thinks they have to tell us more as soon as they talk about it at all, even in a newspaper, or else it means that they have nothing more to say later. Which, for anyone who has followed the gaming industry at all over the years knows that's not how it works.

You do know it was pulled from an arcade in japan because no one was playing it right? And no, I don't think a fighting game with a handful of Pokemon is a system seller.

That was literally one arcade.. people were playing it just not enough. Also the price to play it was apparently really high.

How Japan recieves a game is not equal to how the rest of the world will recieve it.

Meaning they announced it publicly at a prious point in time than when he was directly asked about it. Feel free to find any public announcement that fits that description better than the NX announcement.

And for the record, it doesn't matter if he was directly asked about it or not when he said that. Just like Sony blatantly denied the existence of PS4 just weeks before their eventt unveiling the PS4 to the world, they don't publicly talk about it until the appointed time and place they decided to do so. You seriously think they randomly talk about it as soon as some news site decides to make an interview and ask them directly about it?
