Personally I think the gameplay just doesn't feel quite right. It feels good, but it needs to feel even better.

Did the "shit" physics and "ugly visuals" stop LBP from selling around 6m? Yeah, thought so. What about LBP vita, LBP2, and LBP3? WIth such shit physics and ugly visuals how come games without shit physics and ugly visuals of the same genre haven't sold more, other than Ninty games with well established characters?
Do people look at the data before they speak? Like ever?

How do you explain Ratchet's decline in sales? You can't blame it on "guns", because Ratchet had guns from the first entry. You also certainly can't blame it on it losing it's colourfulness, because, well, it hasn't, yet each mainline entry sold less than the previous one. Also Sly Cooper, Sly 4 was a gorgeous, colorful (no guns either) platformer, and had great landscapes and was generally a blast to play, yet it bombed. |
Ratchet and clank was never very colourful except for the first game. Into the nexus tried aswell, but i still thin the pallete is too grey and brown.
Really, i think the key is the smart use of color. Realistic doesnt go well with Platformers and mascots.

Yup. Since the ps3/xb360/wii era, platformers (without Ninty chracters) have not done well at all. They are simply past their prime. It's not LBP being bad or anything, it's gamers not having an interest in them. LBP was the last sales success in the genre.

3rd parties & the AAA market of online shooters, open-world action, sports/racing Sims have caused barely anything but those genres to be successful on consoles at retail. The "hardcore" gaming market has pretty much just become a market for 13-30 year old males.

bolded: Maybe at first people thought this game would be similar to mario. Imagine a lot of frustrate parents that bought a console for their children trying to find a family friendly game on the store:
- Hi, do you have mario for ps3?
- Sorry, sir. We don't have it. But we just received this game! It's looks very similar
- Thank god! Put on a gift box, pls

6m confused parents? A game with incredible legs that suggest positive reception/word of mouth? Ok, if you say so.

Did i say confused? A game that is someway similar to mario, obviously would get some attention since there's no mario available on the platform to compete. By the way, you're underestimating the number of people that have no idea about how the gaming industry works
