YES! SO GLAD TO HEAR THAT. So you guys can quit claiming 2016 release. The NX isn't something that should be rushed out so early, especially with the patents it might be utilizing. A late 2017/mid 2018 release is much more like it. By then, Sony and MS will be talking about their next consoles. Can Wii U survive that long? Maybe. It depends on what they have in store software wise. It's just too early for a 2016 release.

Like I said, it could just be him letting us know a 2016 release doesn't mean it's being rushed.

Maybe, but a reveal after a release would be quite foolhardy imo. All of these Nintendo 2nd parties, and 1st parties that are silent as hell are most likely working on NX titles. Games like Mario 3D (Galaxy 3) would most likely not release this year. Nintendo has to spend time understanding their new hardware to the fullest, as they barely understood HD gaming and robust online systems at Wii U's launch. At best, we'll get NX tech demos, teasers, and a hardware reveal. Next year, the actual release and games. Doing everything in one year would indeed be rushing.

So, even the president of Nintendo himself basically confirms that it isn't a 2016 thing.

Wii U wasn't "rushed". That was six years to make a console and they announced the thing like 1 1/2 years prior to launch. They showed it at two E3 shows before releasing it. If anything it was like 1-2 years too late.

The reason the Wii U software library sucked is because Nintendo cannot support two distinct hardware platforms simultaneously of that complexity without one having to suffer. They had to support the 3DS. That meant the Wii U was going to be compromised.

It will be worse this gen if they don't make a unified platform. They can release in 2016, 2017, whatever. Doesn't make a difference. They will have even worse droughts next time around, probably far worse.

Nintendo moves at its own pace. And is a sloooooow one.

Thinking about it, wouldn't be easier for him to just say it is not releasing in 2016 and assure more sales for their current platforms? Why to choose the word "rush"? hmmmm...

Exactly why not just say it's not a 2016 product if that's the case? Why keep stringing along the 3DS and Wii U, if it's not coming in 2016, then just say so.

It makes zero sense not to just say that if that's the case. And if it's not "rushed" then its likely because they damn well stole a lot of games that were probably supposed to be on the Wii U but got switched ie: next Retro project, next 3D Mario, the "real" Animal Crossing, Zelda multi-release, etc.

It's easy to launch a system when you can mooch half the first year games from the previous system. Wii did the same thing -- Zelda: TP, Super Paper Mario, Fire Emblem, Mario Strikers and others started off as GameCube projects.

Because shareholders wouldn't be too happy with that news.
