Wii U wasn't "rushed". That was six years to make a console and they announced the thing like 1 1/2 years prior to launch. They showed it at two E3 shows before releasing it. If anything it was like 1-2 years too late. 

The reason the Wii U software library sucked is because Nintendo cannot support two distinct hardware platforms simultaneously of that complexity without one having to suffer. They had to support the 3DS. That meant the Wii U was going to be compromised.

It will be worse this gen if they don't make a unified platform. They can release in 2016, 2017, whatever. Doesn't make a difference. They will have even worse droughts next time around, probably far worse.
