Sorry to hear that. If you're willing to pay a bit more, try some of the 80+ Platinum SeaSonic or Antec PSUs.

Currently got my eye on a nice Enermax Platimax. I'm a bit limited in my choice since I have very specific requirements for the PSU AND it has to be available at a shop near me today.

I don't have personal experience with them, but reviews seem very good (100% Japanese capacitiors always sounds nice for longevity).

GPU only, always been EVGA one weirdly enough, but there service is the best. Guess that's why i always kept buying them.

And Seasonic are the best IMO and is widely regarded by consumers and tech sites etc. Or buy a Corsair, there bullet proof as well.

And just throwing it out there, try Coolaboratory liquid copper, obliterates everything apart from liquid pro/ultra.

PAh, Vivster's powersupply costs more than your entire console anyway, so suck it, pleb

Actually, just remembering i had a Enermax Naxn once, worked well for me and had good reviews.

That's why its better to go with a case with dust filters, it keeps the dust problem at bay.

My only failure with a PC was the motherboard, most precisely a NEC chip that allowed my board to have SATA3 and USB 3.0 ports since the Intel chipset didn't support it. The problem is that when the chip decided to go bust, it took with it a one month old SSD .

I'll never go with add-on chips again.

Please excuse my bad English.

Actually it was just 100 bucks. The new one won't be much more expensive. But you could buy an X1 and a PS4 for what my GPU costs.

So : PSU > HDD > Video Card (if any) > motherboard > optical drive (if any) > memory > CPU.
....

Having also worked in IT, I would agree PSUs are usually the first thing to fail.

I would put ports ahead of Video Cards.  They rarely fail, but sometimes a pin gets bent or something.  Or in Laptops the connection to the external power.

If a hard drive doesn't fail in the first 3 months, they are usually good for years.

And the only memory I have ever had fail was user error - not discharging properly before someone touched it.  Now sometimes the heat/cool cycle cause them to get a little lose, but never had one actually fail.

PSU are also one of the few things we didn't even try to fix.  We just replaced them.

Note: My 2010 PC is on it's second power supply.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Last thing that died on me was my PSU (be quiet). Noticed it after coming back from a 2 week long vacation.
Guess what was the reason for it dying on me... I cut the power before going on vacation (except for the kitchen, where the fridge is obviously), so it actually died because it didn't have any power for a long time and thus wouldn't turn on again.
Won't ever do that mistake again.

Overall 2 PSUs, 2 motherboards, 1 GPU and 1 HDD died on me
