I've always wondered how these guys do this stuff. I'd like to see a stream of them at work trying to hack a piece of hardware.

you can watch on Youtube (it's not related to jail breaking PS4 ofcourse ) but you can see chanel related to hacking and jailbreaking. But you ned to understand a bit of programing lenguage, a bit of Linux knowledge and DOS. But sometimes it's fun especially for PC user like me.

Its amazing the double standards of some users on here.
They enter PC threads and use Piracy as an argument against it but then when it comes to the PS4 and Sony its ok...

Its not double standards, it's hypocrisy

It's only "Ok" when its something they can actually use.

That being said, Piracy/Hacking is a response to poor service or a lack of service, like Gabe once said. When it comes to getting rid of stupid policies like Region Blocking or allowing modding on consoles, its generally a positive, but it always leads to abuse.

Did you see videos of them os's running on the original xbox? they are bad and slow enough without even trying to run a game on top of them.

I did it myself back in the days! Yes, it was slow like fuck, but like I said,  only because nobody cared enough about it. There was no native solution, because there were no drivers at all for the custom mobile Celeron inside the Xbox. So the only solution was emulating via Linux. With the Celeron lacking any Virtualization features, it ran extra shitty. But Linux itself worked like a charm! If someone more talented than me cared enough to write native drivers for the hardware for Win 98, it would be doable.

Today things might look different. The PS4 already has a bigger install base than the Xbox had at the end of its life, so chances are there is some good hacker among the people who might be able to do it. Also, modern Windows versions get along with a whole lot more of hardware. In times of Windows 98, hardware drivers were a pain in the ass. Not so much today, Windows recognizes all your hardware pretty much itself. The Jaguar inside the PS4 is customized, but there is a version for home PCs also. So it might just work without extra drivers, we would need to try that out. I think Windows 7 should work real good on the PS4. Like I said before, the graphics drivers will be a huge issues, so I don't expect any intense PC games to run on it. But some indie stuff like Undertale or older games should be no problem whatsoever.

Anyway, I think it will be very interesting to see what will come out of this. Sure, there is the potential danger of cheaters and pirates. But that also exists on PC and the people play games just fine. Most people won't ever know that the console is hacked, so I would just chill out about that. It is really amazig what possibilities you have with homebrew! With a nice hacked PS4, you can send your Apple TV, Fire TV, Chromecast or whatever right into the trash for example!

The sale will go up like insane because of this. Only console. ;P

ahahahaha :)      But more sales than current figures would be even more insane, not even needed :D    It would be good for X1 and WiiU though  :d

Guess PS4 will dominate in Brazil and other countries that use a lot of bootlegged games.

Hacking/Piracy rarely leads to good things. More often then not a few cheaters ruin things for every one else.

It led to my English VNs on the PSP. I couldn't care less...

With exchange rate of 4:1 the 280 is close enough to USA PSN when you pay the taxes... it would be easier for an American to buy their games here for the releases that are 150-200 that would cost 40-50 US.

I honestly hope Sony patches this ASAP because it'll only lead to people pirating games or cheating in online games... Just use a PC if you want to run homebrew.

It's already patched.

But yeah, i don't want to see these pirates on console anymore. Ds and psp software suffered a lot because of R4/Cwf.
