Another formula movie. Add some minorities , a female in position of power, add a title that people know and love annnnnnd bank!!!
Here is the plot. I could be wrong but I doubt it.
Aliens come, kick our ass.
Later find out that the gov ignored all warnings.
Cast sets out to find the ONLY person alive (young male, prolly female with a super model body) that can retrieve and use the ONLY item or technology to defeat the aliens.
We use this tech/item, turn the tide of the war annnnnd credits.
Easiest 20 bux you spend in 2016.

That looks like a Indenpendence Day (1996) review.

That sounds a lot more interesting than aliens arrive, annihilate us, end credits.

Hope it's good. Not getting my hopes up. The 1st one had GREAT trailers. The actual movie? Not so much. I didn't hate it, it just fell well short of my expectations.

Might give it a chance. No Will Smith doesn't mean I won't see it, but judging by the trailer, it'll be and feel like the previous movie with a few nostalgic nods.

Apparently Will Smith didn't appear in ID2 because he was tired of sequels and After Earth happened:
