Forums - Nintendo - Why are Europeans not more supportive for the Wii U?

Europe is the weakest region for nintendo in wii u sales.

But in recent months i have noticed and comparing US to Europe market and realized that Nintendo Europe makes a better job and we give them the cold shoulder here.

- they release more physical versions. Fatal Frame 5 got physical version here but NA didnt.

- I noticed also Rodea sky soldier all versions include the wii version which i heard is more limited in NA correct me if i am wrong.

- Devils Third had no issue being published in europe, in NA there was an internet debate before Nintendo published it.

- i havent noticed an Amiibo madness at leat in mainland europe. Plenty of amiibos avaible

- they gave Xenoblade CX a Wii U bundle in europe it deserved, which was awesome and it means they are pushing this game a bit more here.

- many Wii U games are cheaper than in Japan and NA. Mario Maker+artbook, Splatoon+amiibo, super mario 3d world all 40€ looking at amazon.de. And even at launch they cost 40€ and a collectors edition with artbook or amiibo or something goes for 60 or 70 @launch. Nintendo is pricing their games right in europe, i dont think a game like splatoon which is a 2GB game should be priced @60€. Its also not kids friendly.

- i have never seen any kind of exclusive european deal for a game/item only avaible in one retailer like it happens in NA with gamestop, best buy etc. Like the XCX NA collecotrs edition which is only avaible at gamestop. Maybe in UK its different

- Free Online. Didnt europeans loved the good old PS3 over the 360 because of free multiplayer?

tell me what you think and correct me if i am wrong somewhere. The Wii U is a good system why arent we buying it, arent european ussually gimped over a lot of stuff when it comes to videogames? we get cheaper games from Nintendo

Sony. That is all.

:P

Honestly I think Europeans tend to prefer more mature titles as well as serious racers and sports games. Of which, the Wii U is severely lacking.

Europe = Playstation land

Europe is an area of diverse taste all around so the platform with the most broad appeal is the one that tends to do well, the economic issues haven't helped either and much of Europe is very PC centric. The PC scene is also becoming more dominant.

Yeah sports and race titles do best in Europe....I wonder why because in the old days Mario was crazy popular in the region. It seems that Japanese games have just really lost their popularity in the west in general the last 10 years.

FT times says that many germans switch from PC to PS4

I do my best :(

with exception of the Wii phenom Nintendo consoles have never done well at all in Europe. Even the NES and SNES did not make a huge splash in Europe. Europe did not take to console gaming until PS1. So where as many people in the US look back fondly at the NES/SNES as what got them into gaming in Europe they look at Playstation that way. Also it helps Sony has remained consistent from PS1 to PS4 with the type of content they push.

psn- tokila

add me, the more the merrier.

Does the Wii U get Fifa?

That answers your question.

People forget Nintendo and Sega were very small in the EU.

Sure they made an impact in the bigger markets such as UK, France and Germany but to the rest of the continent they were almost non-existent, to the extent the comsoles were release by other companies under different names.

For most Europeans the PSone was the first console, they don't have memories of when Nintendo was cool, let alone now. Wii U... LOL.
