People forget Nintendo and Sega were very small in the EU.
Sure they made an impact in the bigger markets such as UK, France and Germany but to the rest of the continent they were almost non-existent, to the extent the comsoles were release by other companies under different names.
For most Europeans the PSone was the first console, they don't have memories of when Nintendo was cool, let alone now. Wii U... LOL.
