1 - 1.5 million. I think many will give the game poor reviews because of the initial hurdle of having to get used to the control scheme. In this era of 24 hour news and a rush from journalists to break a story quickly many reviewers won't take the time to assimilate to the game. It's a shame because I think the game is going to be great - day 1 purchase for me.

There is analog controls. The majority will just go with that.

I chose between 500K and 1 million. Mainly because Star Fox has only shown to be a multi-million seller twice (according to VGC) and we have to take the small install base of the Wii U into account. Though I feel it will air more on the side of 1 million in this case due to it being a Nintendo franchise that hasn't gotten an actual new game for about a decade now and Fox still being visible to your average Nintendo fan (thanks to Smash).

But hey maybe the game can do more than that it Nintendo buckles down with advertising?

This rumor that Nintendo has bad advertising and it doesn't work has to stop. This year Nintendos advertising has been amazing. Ive seen more Nintendo related ads on youtube and tv than i have PlayStation and Xbox ads and a i watch a variety of different channel when i watch TV.

Looking back I do think I worded that a bit wrong. Nintendo's advertising a year ago and further back was pretty spotty and not the best. But this year they have been doing a great job. I've actually seen many Nintendo ads both online and on TV for Splatoon, SMM, the Wii U and 3DS and various 3DS games.

It's just that I feel like they need to be willing to sell a more niche game like Star Fox Zero.

I'll guess somewhere around 750k-800k.
Possibly 1 million depending marketing, reception, and legs.
If it was originally releasing back in November, I'd have said 1 million, easy. But now that the Wii U's life is just about ending and it's right at the tail end. I'm unsure if it can carry.

When did gamers start caring so much about the selling of games and consoles?
I see more articles asking or discussing these things and I don't think one relates to games being good or bad. There are some bad games that sell very well and good games that sell awful and vice versa. But this has become a major focus this generation and people are no longer asking if a game is going to be good or not, but how well will it sell on said system...

I dunno bout the rest of the internet. It doesn't really feel like the overall gaming media is any more concerned about sales than before. It's just that you are on VGCharts, a stie dedicated to tracking the sale of games and consoles, so naturally the focus on a game's sales is going to be rather high, certainly way above the norm. This doesn't mean that anyone here thinks sales = quality, just that they are interested in how much various games sell.

1.2M LT.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

With its arrival late in Wii U's life, its presentation, and a lot of the criticism it has drawn, I expect it to land somewhere in the 500k - 1m range personally.

Well star wars is a kiddy type of game and they dont need to worry about pokken tournament marketing since the Pokemon company usually handles that. Since it looks like a "kiddy game" I can see Nintendo advertising it well.
