Minority my ass. I'm sure that a strong, strong majority of people who played NSMBU found enjoyment and fun in it. I know I did. It just still gets criticized because it lacks soul, or originality, which the other 2D platformers on the poll nail.

I dont think its very fair to compare 2D platformers with 3D platformer.
For poll, Mario 3D World easily, best 2D Yoshi.

I can't go past Trine 2. I know it's only 2D but wow those visuals are stunning, the music is first rate and the physics based puzzles are brilliant! Also, it's a 3 player game and really, how many games ever made are better with 3 player local co op? Throw in the ability to play online with voice chat and a price of about $10 and you have yourself one hell of a game!

I've probably played through more wii u platformers than any other console in my life.

Anyway, my preference out of the best of them:

Super Mario 3D World > Yoshis Wooly World > Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze > Stealth Inc 2 > Shovel Knight > Rayman Legends > Guacamelee > NSMBU > Kirby's Rainbow Paintbrush, Sonic Lost World.


Anyway, they're all good (even sonic) but other than sm3dw, YWW and Sonic LW the order would probably change depending on my mood

I liked Sonic Lost World. It wasn't perfect but forgive some questionable design choices and there's a solid platformer underneath.
