I would say GC was better, but the Wii was BC. So i guess the GC can't be better.

I mean, if we pretend the Wii wasn't BC and had the VC, then maybe.

Wii was much, much better than the Gamecube.

Many of Nintendo's core franchises went off the rails on Gamecube due to unnecessary and detrimental experimentation, while the Wii saw many of these franchises return to form in glorious fashion.

Plus, the introduction of pointer and motion controls on Wii gave it an exciting freshness that Gamecube simply lacked.

Gamecube is Nintendo's worst home console to date, (though it's still not bad, just so-so) Wii is their second best.

Wii was technical superior but not by much. For me it is all about the franchises.

Zelda: Tie- Both had one unique zelda and one that was shared
Metroid: Winner Gamecube- prime 1 and 2 win versus prime 3 and other m
3D mario: Winner wii- galaxy 1 and 2 together easily beat sunshine
2D mario : Winner wii- absent on gc
Smash bro's: Winner Gamecube- prefer melee
F-zero: Winner Gamecube- absent on wii
Mario kart: Tie: mkwii had more tracks and vehicles but mkdd was more fun to play.
Pikmin: winner Gamecube- absent on wii
Starfox: winner Gamecube- absent on wii
Donkey kong: winner Wii- DKCR destroys jungle beat and konga
Poke'mon: Winner Gamecube- colosseum and gale of darkness destroy battle revolution
Paper mario: Winner Gamecube- We all know that TTYD is better than super paper mario.
Fire emblem: Tie- Enjoyed both radiant dawn and path of radiance
Other nintendo franchises: winner Gamecube -the wii brought back excite bike and truck but no waverace, 1080 or chibi robo.
Other RPG's: Winner wii- xenoblade, last story, okami,Tales symphonia 2 and fragile dreams beat Tales of symphonia 1, baten kaitos and lost kingdoms.
Other 3rd party: winner Gamecube- resident evil zero, remake & 4, viewtifuljoe 1 & 2, killer 7, soul calibur 2, prince of persia trilogy, splintercell trilogy, eternal darkness, timesplitters 2 & 3, burnout 2, mgs twin snakes, beyond good and evil, super monkey ball 1 & 2, FF CC beat no more heroes 1 & 2, Sin and punishment SS, red steel 2 and Sonic colours.

I make Gamecube the winner.

I'll go with the Wii, but GC was an awesome console too, and don't forget the N64!

As a system? Well the Wii had the ability to function as a Gamecube as well, so I'd say the Wii is better.

Games-wise? Depends on how you look at it. Mainline Mario games were better on the Wii, 3rd party offerings were much much much better on the Gamecube. Pokemon was better on the Gamecube, Pikmin was better on the Wii.

They're both my favourite home consoles, so personally it's a tie.

The Gamecube had like, a million times more games that I was actually into. The Wii had a handful. I enjoyed both, but nothing will ever beat that purple lunchbox for me.

Both had amazing games...

but 2 of my Top 5 favourite games are on the GameCube, so imo, the GameCube wins :p

I'd say the cube was better than the Wii. The Gamecube when it was out was a powerhouse for its time. Nothing came close on any other system to Resident Evil remake, Zero and RE4. Add to that blockbusters like Mario, 2 fantastic Zeldas, 2 Metroids, Paper Mario, FZero, Mario Kart DD, the cube was a wash with titles.

The Benefit was, was that the gamecube at the time, looked good, and was at the top of the line technically. The Wii, whilst having games that were just as good, was sorely lacking and looked like dirt compared to its peers. It sold well, but for me the Gamecube was a much better gaming system for the time it was out.

I think Gamecube is second best console of all time, I only rate SNES higher. Yes, it lacked a couple of great multiplats but is has such great and creative games not found anywhere else. I also love the controller, how it was impossible to break, offered 4 controller ports and amazing splitscreen experiences, and most importantly: the great cube games have all aged incredibly well
