I'd say it'll be cross-gen, no way it's not releasing on Wii U! That would anger hardcore Nintendo fans who got a Wii U for Zelda.

Add in there that Skyward Sword was supposed to be released in 2010, That Twilight Princess was coming in 2005, That you don't have to wait until the 'Revolution´release to play Twilight Princess, Yes. Zelda team loves to lie us. |
Yeah, they have a pretty terrible track record when it comes to transparency and keeping their word, which makes it hard to trust anything they say.
Say you had a friend that always says he'll "definitely come visit", then keeps on postponing or standing you up almost every time. It would be reasonable to have doubts when that friend says he'll be coming to your birthday party.
Yea, this needs to be in NX. Smash too. They are putting too much effort in those two games to not use their huge system seller potential.
Also Zelda takes from 4 to 6 years to be made, while smash has 6 to 7 interval. Waiting until 2020+ for NX to get a Zelda/Smash, we would be seeing PS5/X2 getting all the buzz, it would be just stupid. NX may eventually get its own iteration of those series, but it will definitively get those two.
Mario Kart is not a ''must'' remaster, since they could use Diddy Kong Racing to fill for sometime.
Splatoon should not be remastered. A robust and bigger Splatoon 2 is a need, has enough time to be made and would be huge for NX.

Or Nintendo could get their arse in gear and not drag their feet so much. Many other studios produce games this complex or more so in a 3 year period.

I hope that Nintendo will pull again MM and make new Zelda using Zelda U engine, asset and models in say 2-3 years after Zelda U launch, so around 2018/2019 we could have new Zelda.

The problem with that is that by then, NX will be well established, and people would be unimpressed with recycled Wii-U level assets.
If Nintendo was smart, they could relaunch the Wii U make a revision backed by heavy marketing, 3rd party support and using HDD instead of flash. Wii U is a commercial failure, the lack of effort by nintendo is clear. Consumers don't trust Nintnedo if they keep having short console cycles.

People are very impressed with Zelda U graphics even if compare it with PS4 game graphics, so I dont see why they wouldn't be impressed with same 1080p AA graphic that certainly will be improved with new Zelda on NX.
So basically on NX Nintendo will have port of Zelda U but that game is developed from ground for Wii U hardware, so Nintendo can easily use same engine, assets and models and improved them use maximum of NX hardware for new NX Zelda. That could be quite different in comparison with Zelda U.

What they've shown of Zelda U does indeed look awesome, but if it was a Triple A exclusive on PS4/Xbone I expect a lot of people would say it looks underwhelming technically. And NX will likely be close to those systems in power.
