Forums - Nintendo - Lack of Voice chat made me stop playing Splatoon....

I do think the game should've included voice chat between friends. I don't have any interest in voice chat with strangers, but when playing with friends the experience feels impersonal without voice chat. Maybe with the NX Nintendo will finally get this right.

Most of the Nintendo audience were upset when we heard the news about Splatoon having no voice chat online. Mario Kart 8 was perfectly fine without Voice chat because it's a racing game, and we don't need to hear 11 other players voices online. But an online MULTIPLAYER not having voice chat?! At first I didn't mind it at first because the game was so much fun! But later after awhile it got boring because it was the same old thing.... Voice chat really helps making online multiplayer feel like new. I only play Splatoon once every 2 weeks just for 20 minutes then I get bored and play something else. Having no voice chat also made the mulitplayer stressful at times because you can't communicate with your teammates AT ALL.  When I blast up in the air and come straight down, I get killed... this would be VERY useful for voice chat to help me "Hey protect me, I'm coming over to you!". I give Splatoon a  7 out of 10. If it had voice chat, I would give it a 9 out of 10. Nintendo really messed up by not putting voice chat. Shame....

This is my problem with voice chat. As you said it would be very useful, and when something is useful it gives you an advantage over the people not using it. Having voice chat basicly forces everyone else to use voice chat least they lose out on the advantage. I would really hate to be forced to used voice chat.

You know what also gives some groups the edge over others, playing with others instead of random people. Should Nintendo not allow connection with friends?

Is it possible to form parties?

Then skype could be a solution.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Why doesn't Nintendo update voice chat to the game with a patch?

Actually in some cases, they don't

There are three main modes: Normal, Ranked, and Squad

In normal mode you can play with friends but half the time they are on the other team and winning does not matter too much in that mode.

In ranked you are not allowed to play with friends. All of your teammates are random.

In squad you play with friends but the other side is doing the same so there is no edge over the other group.

It feels a bit strange to be playing a shooter that lacks voice chat, however it's not a deal breaker when I'm playing with randoms. But it can be frustrating that there is no party chat for friends though especially for Squads.

It wouldn't be used for much good. The majority of the time, it would just be used to tell your teammates that they suck nuts and they need to fucking get their shit together.

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

OK, then how do you account for internet connection? Is Nintendo forcing you to get the best internet connection or risk having the other team (with better connection) to have the edge.

Point is, there are many factors that could give you/the opponent the edge. But this should never be a reason to remove an optional but helpful feature that can benefit both teams.

This is why you make it optional with a mute toggle button.
