Ok so here is the problem. We all know by now that consoles cannot achieve 1080p and 60 frames without major sacifices, infact they cant even do 1080p without having a steady frame rate unless the games are extremly linear or nerfed to the ground (Apart from acouple exceptions).

Fallout 4 is the main problem here. Why would a dev release a game like Fallout 4 on consoles at 1080p when they know the frame rate suffers.. I tell you why, because 1080p has become the talking point this gen, that even devs are afraid to lower it because of the backlash they might get for there games. Would you rather play Fallout 4 at 1080p and 30 frames with alot of dips? or would you rather play it at 900p and closer to a 60 frames or a rock solid 30 frames? As an old school gamer my anwser is clear, Framerate. I was going to buy Fallout 4 on consoles but after seeing that both consoles struggle to keep it at 30 it ended my decision very quickly and PC it is for me.

In my own opinion, these 1080p standards need to stop, these consoles just cant do it without sacificing not only frame rate but many other effects and features just to achieve this pixal count. There is barely any difference between 1080p and 900p but dips below 30 frames is noticable. If the gaming community can get off the 1080p hype train and start looking at whats more important for games, devs will finially realise that lowering resolution isnt all that bad if it makes the game more fun to play and stable.

No it doesn't.  It just doesn't.  Your argument = flawed is a MAJOR way.  All games are developed differently. All games were made to run differently.  All hardware runs differently.  And no developer is being forced to render a game at 1080p.  The technology is there for both consumer and developer.  You push it, you force the advancement of technology.  You can hook up a PC to a 4K TV and get amazing results.  Of course you don't have to hook up a PC to a 4K TV, but you complain about the "effects" of 1080p yet you claim it made your decision to go with PC.  As an old school gamer, I've seen console wars founght since the Atari 2600.  And all this is is that you opted for the PC version because you would have preferred playing on the Xbox One, but it's clear that the PS4 version trump this one as usual.  And I might create sawed off poll just for the hell of it, but your poll is just daft.

You have completely missed the point of this article. For one the PS4 doesnt trump anything, it has its own issues it needs to deal with just as much as the XB1's version. If you havent seen the X1's frame rate test after DF installed it on a SSD hard drive, the frame rate differences are minor and even then the PS4 suffers heavly in combat affected areas when effects start flying around as seen in the below link at 3:58mins. That is not what i call trumping anything.

And just to top off your defensive argument, here is a link below of the frame rate tests for both consoles running X1's version of the game on a SSD and again barely any difference between the 2 versions and also fixed the stutters heavly affecting the X1 game.

Back on topic, both consoles struggle running Fallout 4 at a solid 30 frames, but as long as the devs achieve there 1080p it seems as if no one cares. Sorry i am a PC gamer who owns both consoles and i am skipping another 3rd party game because i am not dealing with these dumb decisions for a Dev to think its ok to focus on the wrong parts of the game. I would love to play FO4 or any 3rd party games with my mates on consoles but not when they do this. I brought my consoles for fun not so they can be a half-assed PC's trying to do things they cant.

Resolution is the least of Fallout 4 visual problems.

1080p with 30/60 fps is something I'm sure each developer aims for but nobody is busting their balls if they can't achieve it.

If anything, developers knows fps is more important which is why we hear more so how devs are lowering the resolution in order to have a more consistent frame rate. I don't think i've ever heard of devs allowing inconsistent frame rates in order to achieve 1080p.

Absolutely not in fact it needs to be standard.

Devs need to optimize their code and not rush or release buggy games whether it is performance or gameplay issue

The pool is broken - its miss 1080p30 FPS.

Fallout 4 is broken also - it will get fixed in the future and I think it will be Witcher 3 scenario - more fps, better graphics thanks to patches.

I think developers should stop caring about getting 1080p and focus on 60fps instead. Until MS/Sony/Nintendo make hardware powerful enough to actually deliver 1080p and 60fps consistently without sacrificing much from the game then I see no reason to make it a point to hit 1080p. Just my 2 cents though.

Edit: With consoles being closed off, I know it may be a while before this is ever likely.

I would prefer 1080p 30fps than losing resolution.

I dont really care about 60fps most of the time. With that said I do have a beast of a pc :D

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

Real pixels have curves, amirite?

U mean every Xbox One, PS4 owner has to buy SSD or something now ?  LMAO

The game is broken, devs have to fix this, not users

You know what's funny?

You seem to think the xb1 is the only console that can upgrade drive speed (and overcharge for it). I paid less to swap my ps4 hdd to a 1tb 7200rpm sshd than Microsoft charges (above the lower tier) for their overpriced model.

I could also go pure ssd if I wanted.
