Forums - Gaming Discussion - Has Tomb Raider been wasted?

I notice that MS is not mentioned in the opening credits so people can finally put the rumor to sleep that MS is publishing and funded the game.If that were the case then their logo would be shown in the credits along with Square,Eidos and CD.As obvious this was just a straight money hat deal and nothing more.Just clearing up the false belief that some people have.

If MS funded the game, it wouldn't release on the PS4 at all, like SFV for example. That's that simple. What they can fund is the marketing (and we all know TR marketing has been almost non existent compared to other games...).

Another anti xbox one thread, how original.

I'm enjoying Tomb Raider immensely.  More than any game this year.

I feel Tomb Raider has been wasted but not for the reasons stated. I feel that if it were day-one multiplatform and not released on the same day/week as Fallout 4, it would have sold much more successful sales wise(compared to this staggered release). I feel the impact of the game would have been better if it were not a timed-exclusive. Releasing it on the same day as Fallout was also a bad move.

This thread is really NOT an anti-Xbox thread and in the OP I state that the game is very good and critically successful. Here we are more concerned with the game from a business point of view. "Will it be profitable?" And "has it fulfilled its strategic purpose?" Are key questions.

As many people have posted here, the audience for the game on Xbox are enjoying it a lot.

I really agree, Fallout is the biggest reason it won't sell well. Sure it was never going to sell crazy amounts on Xbox, but fallout was going to take everyone's money this week, even if they might have been interested in tomb raider. Just an aweful time to release it

The title is basically saying it is wasted on xbox one, the poster is trying to cloak it under the guise of concern but anyone can see that he is having a dig at the xbox one.

I do have to say that Tomb Raider has changed....A LOT!

As a kid I played TR4: The Last Revelation and it was a struggle even finding where the heck to jump to or even go. Maybe it was harder because I was young, but you definitely had to explore your environments and use your items to progress. Now it's just like other action games such as Uncharted/Last of Us where everything almost feels like auto pilot. I don't know what to feel about this.

This one might be the one you're hoping for. There is risk in the platforming and some legit puzzles. Just turn off the beacon that tells you where to go when you click R3. You'll be right at home.

I liked TLR too. Don't know why but it was better to me than TR3 and Chronicles. But don't get me wrong. This game isn't nearly as tough. And I did wind up in some combat killing about ten guys after a few hours of play. Not sure if the game is going to have more exploration of more combat but starting off it has a very good balance.

That is absolutely not the purpose of this thread, just because a question is asked does not mean it inherently implies something else. I also think it is a perfectly valid question to ask given the quote from P Spencer in the OP about it being an answer to uncharted.

Nobody is hating on Xbox in this thread and it has a great lineup for the holiday season so there is no reason to be sore about people discussing one of the more controversial launches of the year.
