So it's going like I thought it would.
It's kinda hard to understand why people hate 13 and love 10, it has to have to do with age.
Seems like most people that love 10 were teenagers while they played it, but things like linearity and a more emotional approach get a pass on 10 while it's hardly criticized on 13.
I felt 10 was more alive than 13, had a stronger char than 13 (Auron beats any 13 char), and it has more customization than 13 as well, but all those are not that much more standing on 10 to the extent of hate 13 gets.

I wonder if 13 would have a way easier time if it was a PS2 game and most people had played it before turning into adults.

Also am I the only that love 12 OST? Okay that 10 had some strong tracks but 12 OST is great all over it, it sounds epic and powerful when it want and smooth when it needs. Seriously, go listen to some of those, guys xP

The only similarities that FFX and FFXIII have is the linearity, and thats it.And even then, FFX had blitzball, which eased the linearity by alot(even though i was not a fan of the minigame).FFX has an excellent gameplay, probably the best in the series, while XIII was almost all automatic.13 story was awful, while on X was excellent(againd for me the best in the series, or the very least as good as VI).Characters are also better in X.All in all, X is a better game than XIII because is a better game, period. Its not just because that they are both linear that they are similar.Probably if 13 was in PS2 era it would get even more hate than it gets, because the only thing going for it(graphics) wouldnt probably be as good as in the PS3(relatively to its time)

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

XII, easily. It's not even close. X had a pretty good premise, but that was ruined by being a very linear game and some of the worst characters in the series. Characters with the emotional maturity and awkwardness of a 10 year old girl (laughing scene, I'm looking at you).

XII brought back a fully explorable world and had a much more "serious" cast of characters, with much less anime-isms. And the music was definitely on another level compared to X. And I love the combat.  Felt like a Baldurs Gate or Knights of the old Republic kind of system, but more customizable.

FFX, along with FFVIII and FFXIII is on the bottom of the pile when it comes to the series for me. And I was on board since the original on the NES. FFXII was such a breath of fresh air compared to the two lackluster titles it's sandwiched between.

X, no question. I absolutely despise the combat in XII.

FFX easily for me....I felt.....free in 10 and liked the characters, story and combat WAY more in X than in XII.

I found X to be a more personal, character-centric story (especially the ending).

The story for XII, on the other hand, was majestic in its scope. While it minimized the significance of the characters, it really was a brilliant tale.

I like the active combat of FF12 far more than FF10's turn based system (although, it is one of the better turn-based systems implemented in an RPG) I also like the story more on FF12 in that it is a more political/war driven story and has very little romance/sappyness which i could never stand in FF10. The only thing I don't like from FF12 is the cast of characters. Aside from the pirate guy (i forgot his name) and the bunny chick, the rest of the party is pretty meh (specially vaan's ridiculous custom design, seriously, what is that?)

Overall, having played both, I like FF12 more than FF10.

Balthier is the "pirate guy" and Fran the "bunny chick".

Thank you good sir, I was far too lazy to look them up.

the story is a practically copy & pasted OT Star Wars script

I actually loved this fact. I was having nostalgia orgasms of Star Wars while playing FFXII

XII's ost was pretty calm for the most part and have to agree that X's OST outshines it in terms of number of tracks. Although I admit the battle themes are some of the best on FFXII specifically "Clash of Swords" - 2nd best battle theme in the series imo!

I'll admit I like the Star Wars-yness too. Then again, 12 is like my second favorite FF. 10 and 12 are like my kids. I can't truly pick one over the other. They're the best in the series (pour moi)

I don't like either of them that much, but I guess FF10 wins this thanks to its battle system. It's pretty good!

Overall it's FFX for me.

The characters, battle system, world and story all gelled with me and were very impressive for the time. The side-quests and Blitzball were superior to those found in XII which I found to be repetitive. It was also heavily story focussed (and linear) but balanced it with interesting side-quests and late-game content.

I fully acknowledge however that XII's story, setting and characters generally had more depth to them. Vaan and Penelo felt irritatingly out of place the further I played however, and essentially stopped me from caring about the storyline. I liked the fact it was open world but the content within the game was too repetitive. Without the story and characters to keep me going I eventually got bored of the game, and just didn't bother with the late/post-game material.

FF XII is possibly my favorite game of all time, honestly.

but its no surprise X is winning by a landslide.
