Everyone here has different tastes and making that one angry person smile can warm your cold heart. One day at a time you make a friend out of an enemy. Without knowing it, you in turn make your old friends your new enemies, if you wander too far down the road to befriend the unfriendables. You keep pushing forward to try and earn the respect of "The Other Side". You find yourself to have become trollish through this whole process. Then that day comes when you realize your only true friend is your ego. 😴

Seriously though..

As far as this website seeming fanboyish, isn't it obvious? When you left this website, you took half the Sony fanbase with you. So there would be less of the quality users from that fanbase here. Same thing that JayWood was doing. The Xbox userbase took a massive hit. New users come in trying to adjust and fill those holes. Older members keep on chugging to give the forum some life support.

This is mroe or less what I was going to say.

I joined the site originally for sales data but secondary was also the community because I naturally thought this one would be welcoming due to it having a decent rep, I was partially wrong about the latter part though. Some parts of the community appear friendly and docile, willing to partake in open discussions and then of course there is the other half.

That said I still do feel some disappointment towards the site due to the ongoing behaviour towards one fanbase and another, PC in particular is just never going to grow here at all and I agree with you on that, it's unlikely to ever grow becuase for it to grow the other userbases would have to accept it as a valid platform other than using it for work or design purposes. Chances are that's also unlikely to happen because there is always going to be common misconceptions about said platform, sometimes out a few errors in knowledge and some out of spitefullness, the latter I really don't get since we love gaming just as much as anyone else and we love our freedom to do what we want with our games and our hardware.

I'd love to talk about moderation but unfortunetley the last time I did that I was either banned or directed to go to a thread where mods had ground to stand on, ground to easily push you off of.

I wouldn't leave just yet though, I left for a while and some bad apples came and went and I decided to jump back here for a while longer until I decide to go somewhere else where the PC folk can talk with others without being ridiculed. I try sticking to PC threads but also a few other geneal topics as well, sticking to the PC megathread is probably the ebst bet since it;s mostly what remains of the last couple PC people that reside there and less chances of console only folk going in to derail it.

(Again I don't hate console folk, I'm friends to plenty of them as well as PC onlys as well before anyone accuses).

Maybe a better option would be the abilty to ban people to see peoples comments they usually start fights with? Like say usera makes a thread. Userb hate usera. They can't see the thread. And can't see a comment in threads. Basically a forced ignore.

The only time I change my stance on something, is when new evidence is brought to light that changes my opinion.

Other than that, I'm always consistent.

The Escapist had something like this idea although it was just an option where a user could block seeing another, you could still see threads created by the user but the user's post was hidden and it also gave you the option to remove the hidden text and view the post.

I would love an option like the one Zero described though but I'd love it if instead we could just block seeing users completely which should optionally include threads created by the user, this way it's bound to negate at least some hostility in the future.

I just wish they could remove the down and upvotes on articles because it's getting tedious and annoying when you make a comment and someone downvotes you into oblvion, even when you state some correct info too, Destructoid got rid of downvotes and so did Youtube. You can still dowvote people on both of those sites but no one will see the downvotes (kinda defeats the whole purpose of adding that option in the first place), only issue elft is upvotes can lead to circle jerking, just getting rid of both would mean users have to actually comment in reponse to one another than simply clicking a red or green thumb.

What adblocker do you use? I use uBlock Origin since it does the same things Adblock and Adblock Plus do, but consumes less RAM.
