I think this would be neat as a multiplayer mode for ALBW. Probably can't stand very well as its own product.

I feel like this is a big problem for Nintendo right now.  They're losing money, so they're taking all these little packages and selling them at full price, so now the shelves are filling up with games that don't have a lot of value for the money.  It's like they're in panic mode and are unwilling to put as much into games as they used to.

I don't see it like that at all.  It's true that the game doesn't have as much work into it, but I think it has a lot more to do with this being the end of the handheld cycle than it does with "Nintendo is struggling to make money."

I feel Arlo is pretty much right on the money. Nintendo knows that their game output is the primary support for their systems, this generation potentially more than ever with third party handheld support being on the lower end. They also know that their release gaps are an issue, and that having months between worthwhile releases doesn't work that well. A big issue lies in the extended development times for titles of the same length that required less development time in previous generations. This goes for both the Wii U and 3DS, which have both suffered from the longer development times of titles in a big way.

These short, lacking, shallow titles give the impression that Nintendo is floundering right now, unsuccessfully trying to find the line for content versus development time, desperate just to get games out there.

Wow I can't believe they didn't bother putting in AI for the single player, that's so fucking lazy.

I can tell you're a Zelda fan by the fact that you're complaining about the newest game in the series.

Whether YOU wanted it or not, I've seen requests for years by the Four Swords series' fans for a third multiplayer game. Nobody really asked for it to be one or three players only (seriously, a two player option would have been nice), but let's not let your clear bias affect people who might like the game. I'm sure it's about as enjoyable as FS/FSA, which means very for some and not at all for others. So, the same as pretty much every Zelda game!

I'm a big Zelda fan that wants real Zelda games, not this thing.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

I agree. My comment wasn't aimed at the value of the product or some greedy intent behind its intention. I just think that this type of game would have been better served in conjunction with a bigger game. If they scrapped the single player and then made the multiplayer a $20 expansion pack DLC for ALBW, I'd be all over it.

Except we're still seeing big titles from Nintendo.  Xenoblade Chronicles X was finished up earlier this year, Star Fox is getting more work put into it and got delayed, we still have the Wii U Zelda game, and also the NX SDK's have been put out.  What I said makes infinitely more sense on why they are making these titles.  I do think that their lack of success on the Wii U and dropping 3DS sales do drive some of their decisions, but that is not the main reason.  If it were, we wouldn't really be seeing almost any effort for multi-year dev cycle games on either system anymore.

That´s not lazyness, you are asking for a level of AI that I don´t see in any game, you are asking for an AI that is able to solve puzzles and fight bosses in wich 3 characters need to interact in very different ways, and they must know what you want to do depending on what you are doing or what messages you are sending to them, if you really have played the demo I don´t understand how do you think that would work at all, It doesn´t seems realistic.

Depending on which item you pick up at the beginning of the level each person has a specific role to play.  If your saying its too hard for an AI to throw a bomb in a certain place or stand and use the blow item, w/e its called, I don't know what to say.  AI have responded to commands for a long time now in games so how would responding to messages be a problem?  And if the AI isn't responding correctly for w/e reason then there's always the option to switch players and do it yourself for that one part, but doing that the whole game is ridiculous.

After reaching the Polygon review massacring it, I Have zero interest in this game now.
