I think this would be neat as a multiplayer mode for ALBW. Probably can't stand very well as its own product.

I feel like this is a big problem for Nintendo right now.  They're losing money, so they're taking all these little packages and selling them at full price, so now the shelves are filling up with games that don't have a lot of value for the money.  It's like they're in panic mode and are unwilling to put as much into games as they used to.

I don't see it like that at all.  It's true that the game doesn't have as much work into it, but I think it has a lot more to do with this being the end of the handheld cycle than it does with "Nintendo is struggling to make money."

I feel Arlo is pretty much right on the money. Nintendo knows that their game output is the primary support for their systems, this generation potentially more than ever with third party handheld support being on the lower end. They also know that their release gaps are an issue, and that having months between worthwhile releases doesn't work that well. A big issue lies in the extended development times for titles of the same length that required less development time in previous generations. This goes for both the Wii U and 3DS, which have both suffered from the longer development times of titles in a big way.

These short, lacking, shallow titles give the impression that Nintendo is floundering right now, unsuccessfully trying to find the line for content versus development time, desperate just to get games out there.
