Doubt it. I see this thread every month it seems. A serious question asking about the future of Vgchartz.
Hopefully it will eventually be fixed.
I've been away a lot lately, but that's mostly down to insane working hours (broke my old record by a fair amount). The forums do seem slower, but the site purports to be about sales data and we're not getting sales numbers and thus less sales discussion, no wonder the forums are slower.
I still very much enjoy the community, but it seems more quiet.
Here's to hoping the numbers will start coming in more frequently again!
I do think it's important to factor the influence the charts had on the quality of user that would join the forums. Smeags said it best - weekly numbers gave VGC it's niche. That niche was particularly inviting of academic, analytical discussions about video games. You have to be a very specific type of game fan to be drawn to a website because of sales numbers, and that forces in the brand of community we have here.
I think that's what a lot of people are referring to when they comment on how good and intelligent the community is here. The charts were the seed that nurtured a community like that. Even if you're not informed when you join, I truly believe that the critical thinking demanded in such a forum and makes every user here just that little bit more intelligent purely from that exposure.
This place should just convert to a video games and sales discussion forum without the front page. Could be a GAF 2.0.

That's a really good point, never thought of it like that. Some of the credit has got to be given to the mod team though. Firm, fair and darn right jolly good chaps!

I think most would settle for monthly numbers, which is probably the best idea anyway, as more concrete data is out on a monthly basis rather than a weekly one.
Software tracking should just be dropped altogether tho, its so far from accurate because of digital sales its pointless. Just stick to reporting software milestones released from companies and possibly GFK when available.
ioi should sell Vgchartz to me so i can fix it up. First thing ill do is make to work better on mobile devices!!

*swoons*
If I was still a head mod, I'd totally give you a get-out-of-ban-free card.
My ability to be (easily) bribed was one of the reasons I'm not a head mod any more.

Nevermind the get-out-of-ban-free card, what about a free-hugs-and-kisses voucher?!?
