What idea? I mean, out of those only the CoD and SW bundles are getting cuts
Maybe the NDC bundle will finally move though

The PS4 was winning before the price drop with two bundles ahead of the Halo bundle. The gap was bound to decrease as we near the release date of Halo anyway but the price drop could slow it down. It comes down to this: Can the Halo bundle outsell the PS4 (from 27th to 31st) by enough to offset the gap the PS4 will have already increased from 1st to 27th? Nearly 4 weeks versus 5 days. Who will win? It really isn't a certainty, which is why it's interesting.

It is not 4 weeks against five days though.

It is three weeks against 10 or so weeks of preorders and twelve days of actual release.

The base price of PS4 is being cut to $349. That means the TLOUR bundle will be $349, any any other currently $399 bundle that has the basic black console. Probably the Destiny bundle too, although being a LE console maybe they won't but it is curious that Amazon cut the Destiny bundle to $349 before the official announcement. It's an acropss the board cut, it's just that the bundles Sony is wanting to strongly promote are the only ones lsted in the PR release.

Oh, yes, I keep forgetting exactly when NPD start counting figures for a certain month. I still don't quite understand it.

It's actually 20th - 31st because all Halo bundles with the digital code will be shipped / available from the 20th. So on the 20th, if you haven't already pre-ordered it, you will be able to walk into a retailer and buy a Halo LE bundle if there are any in stock. And of course all the Halo LE pre-orders will be counted as sales for the week of the 20th, i.e. if VGC ever gets around to publishing the October charts before the end of the decade.

So Halo gets to have a 12 day effect on hardware sales in Oct. and importantly that means 3 weekend shopping days. NPD for Oct ends on the 31st right?

Can't wait to see the price cut effect.

You and me both. I imagine the top 20 is about to be full of PlayStation bundles in the following days of the price cut.

All the bundles on pre-order can go to the lower price now. It's the bundles and units currently available that will only drop on 9 Oct.

Does anyone know for sure whether the Destiny Bunle is officially going to $349? Amazon has put it's backorder for TTK back to $399, so maybe that bundle isn't dropping. If TTK LE PS4 has limited stock available then it probably makes sense to keep it at $399 for now, becuase if people want it they will pay the extra $50. If there is still stock of the TTK bundle left over in the new year then they can cur the price, but for now it's popular enough at $399 that they can probably sell through the entire production run at that price.
