what we "saw" was this:

they could release just about anything under that title and be consistent with what we know about the title.

There was also this:

that was an official release?  my bad then,.. i thought we only got leaks.

It is a leak.

The hiring of a gameplay lead for a co-op stealth game definitely sounds like Agent to me. However, the job listing suggests that it's early in development, so I don't think it'll be Rockstar's next game. Rockstar San Diego hasn't done anything since 2011 except a small amount of GTA V assistance, surely they've been working on a new Red Dead the last few years. I'm guessing it's a new Red Dead that Rockstar showed behind closed doors at Gamescom, hopefully it'll be announced to the public soon and released next year.

Yeah, I totally agree. Red Dead 3 or Red Dead Revolution or something to that effect is next up. Probably out in the next 12 or so months. IMO

There would never be a better time to be a Sony exclusive.

Why would they leave out X1 and PC? That's a significant market.

They'd only consider that if Sony would pay a huge sum for exclusivity, and/or if the game isn't the kind of big-budget production that R* is known for.  Both seem unlikely.

The PS4 might sell very well, but this isn't the PS2 era anymore. PC gaming is popular now, and while X1 isn't selling as well as PS4 it's still a significant market. R* would be mad to skip that market, and Sony would be mad to buy this market out.

the 360 was a vastly more significant market when agent was announced exclusively for ps3...

i agree, i'm sure that rockstar didn't annouce agent exclusively for ps3 for no reason.  a large sum of cash was probably already paid to rockstar.   ..but ps4 is kicking ass on the market now.  there isn't really any reason to believe that sony lost exclusivity for this title now that conditions are more favorable then ever for playstation exclusivity.

After Nioh (announced in 2004) and The Last Guardian (2009) i'd even bet on it.

Good point about the 360 at the time, and maybe R* are following up on an old deal.

You've got to wonder though what the implication of not making the game was for the exclusivity deal that was in place, and signing an exclusivity deal with MS for GTA4 dlc instead. And at a time where Sony really needed such a coup.

Somehow I can't imagine Sony having paid a huge sum of money and then just let it slide like that. If money did already change hands, did they come to an agreement and R* paid it back?

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see what comes of this (if something is really going on).

How was the 360 a vastly more siginificant market... in 2009?!

Yeah, GTA4 was meant to be a full PS3 exclusive. MS paid the over 75 million to make it multiplatform and get the dlc first.....

Sony then (probably not too happy at this point) said that they have to do something else so. R* came up with a zombie game but then saw Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising, sensing the market was being saturated, they started concepts for Agent.

I don't believe the debt has been paid in any meaningful way. Although relations are on very strong footing between the two.

That 75 million is a bit in the realm of rumour, although I wouldn't be surprised if something like that happened.

But then again, you've gotta ask yourself: was that a good thing or a bad thing? Probably a bit of both, imho.

Going for PS3 exclusivity for GTA4 would have been a huge missed opportunity for R*. It obviously wouldn't have been good for 360 gamers too. So in that sense, I think it's good GTA4 became multiplatform.

But of course that goes both ways as the DLC exclusivity wasn't exactly a good thing for the gaming community either.

I'm just not a great fan of money-hatted 3rd party exclusivity as it serves no other purpose than corporate interests.
