Depends how big the series is. If it's more than three entries, I prefer a subtitle. If the game decides to use a number on the fourth game-onward, then I'd prefer a roman numeral over a number.

Regardless, it's never a deal-breaker. Just a personal preference.

Mixture of both! "Xenosaga Episode.." Works better than just Xenosaga I, II, III. And those subtitles really sets them apart.

But sometimes a simple number works well, Bayonetta 2 sounds better than Bayonetta: Rise of the lumen sages. Or BloodRayne 2 instead of BloodRayne: Quest for the annihilation of your siblings.
