Soul Caliber?

On the basis or art, storytelling, characters and diversity; No.

But I get why you would make the comparison on the basis of it being an RPG which reinvents itself every entry (not nearly to the degree of FF)

I liked FF7 but after that it got way too much into "J-POP Backstreet Boys RPG" territory. I don't understand at all why Squaresoft thought that was a smart direction to go in. IX was good too, but it was the last one that was really free of that Boy Band/Pop Girl aesthetic.

FF XII wasn't "Boy Band/Pop Girl" either.

and honestly, the main cast of FF1-6 wasn't that far from the other games either. With the technology to show greater details/voice acting, there's far less imagination going into your perception of characters.

Full 3D models of Amano characters would likely not be received well.

What a bizarre thing to say...

And there is a modern Final Fantasy... Called Final Fantasy. FFXV is looking utterly amazing, for example. c:

Final Fantasy used to be an experience. I used to like everything about them. Then...FFX came.

It's like trying to compare apples to peppers. I liked IX and XII after VII so I have to disagree with ya about final fantasy in general. I think that a good bit of people really dislike that japanese emo look and not so much the anime style in japanese games. As much as I like the souls games and it's clones, they are very different from any final fantasy game. The souls games created or at the very least are popularising a new subgenre of RPGs. Saying that the souls games are the modern final fantasy is an insult to the souls games honestly.

The Final fantasy series is more or less a ship without any sails. There's no direction in the games anymore. Each addition into the series is more likely to be a miss rather than a hit. I hope that FFXV turns out to be a good game especially after VIII, X & X-2 and more recently XIII + sequels.

Don't know why some people type Soul Caliber, Gran Tourismo and Bloodbourne.

I'm sorry, Soul Calibur?

We both agree the xbox one is the best console this generation so theres something.

This contradicts your whole thread since Bloodborne is apart of the souls series and is a PS4 exclusive that is better than any x1 game thus far.How can you hold that opinion if the typeof game you like so much is not even on the Xbox? if you thought so much of the style of gaming than it would make sense for you to prefer the console with that game as an exclusive.

As for this comparison.I disagree because FF4- are better games than any of the souls games even by today's standards.FF6 and FF7 are masterpieces and none of the souls games are masterpieces.

I disagree, Demon's, Souls bd Bloodborne are all masterpieces, there's just nothing like them today.

Dark Souls 1 is my favorite game ever and imo the best game ever made.
