Forums - Gaming - Don't Count Nintendo Out, Says Former Xbox Boss Robbie Bach

You cant predict Nintendo, they move in unpredictable ways.

Up one moment, down the next.
NX console? maybe its a another Wii success.... most likely not though.

All I can say is "I want to see what Nintendo does if it has to launch the NX against a PS4 thats selling at 300$".

If it comes out and its much weaker than the PS4... or costs more,.... Game Over, another Wii U type situation maybe.

Also Nintendo need to have a new 3D Mario ready for their next console.

I can smell your confidence emanating off my USB ports. We'll see. :P

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

I guess Nintendo is a toy company more than ever thanks to amiibo.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

it would really be hard for Nintendo on what really NX is and if it would be a success or not, it is a make or break for them to be honest. in terms of relevance of their status in the gaming industry, sales are lower and their brand even it is successful throughout the years is dwindling.

they need to get a slice in the core western market and still able to accommodate japanese gamers. don't know if they could atleast get their specs right on their new hardware console and have 3rd parties create games for them. and not just shovelwares. time will tell, i'm excited for NX, and see what they have on their sleeves.

So he wants Nintendo to go third party?

Not necessarily. He says they should either do that or make sure they improve their consoles to get better coverage.

And that's true really. From a home console perspective if there future console keep selling at Wii U levels then they really would be better off going 3rd party. If they can actually adapt to the current market and improve their console sales in the future though then that won't be needed.

Well then he's stating the obvious.

Of course you cant write them off, even in a gen where they are underperforming they have still sold over 60 million hardware units and a shit ton of software.

why would anyone count nintendo out... something happening im not familiar with ?

and yeah microsoft is a software company and sony is a walkman company.

You seem to be frozen in time, time to unfreeze and see Sony at the top of the console market.

just in hardware, nintendo sold more of their own software than sony or m$, with the lowest selling console

Nintendo going 3rd party would be 3rd parties worst nightmare

Nintendo is actually very predictable.

They move very slowly, and rely on tried and true tactics until they don't work any more.

As a game developer first and manufacturer second, they prioritize their own development over third parties.

It only seems unpredictable because they are the only truly japanese centric manufacturer left.

It would be stupid to count them out. If there is one thing that is completely unpredictable it is the video game market. No one expected the Wii to be the success it was nor did many believe at the beginning of the 8th Gen that the PS4 (before reveal) could win the generation.
