Forums - Nintendo - What wrong with wii sales?

They are stockpiling, just not for brawl. They are already meeting their predictions for the stockholders, so now they are holding out to boost the summer months and stockpile for christmas to keep number high for next year. Like DKII said, it happened last year. Nothing is wrong with the wii.

If anything they are stockpiling for GTAIV, try to steal some thunder with Mariokart and a huge shipment of wiis. GTAIV comes out and the wii can still track higher than the PS3 and 360 or at least not get blown away by them, thusly avoiding negative press and being able to spin things in their direction, saying "Sony and Microsoft fired their biggest bullet yet, and we're unfazed and still outselling them!". Clever really.

Leandrovisk, you kind of sound like you made it to the hardest level! 5?!

Be real, how can there be saturation when it's still sold out? That sounds so dumb!

To everyone else, you know Nintendo is hyping wii, underproducing what the public wants, and pushing consoles to April. (Nintendo can't produce enough of anything to save their lives!)

Damn things have changed since 2009 began. Here are my new visions for the end of the generation.

Wii: 135 mil

Ps3: 85 mil

360: 60 mil

I would have assumed they would have stockpiled a little bit, but, it's selling out anyway

Wii doesn't have a huge boost with a new game...

Don't you mean PS3?

The Wii only outsold either of its competitors by about 60,000 units. Obviously the Wii fad is over.

I blame Wii Fit.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

Also, that is the smartest thing any company could do! (stockpile against gta4!)

Gta4 is going to be legendary!!! If Nintendo stockpiles, it's the only way that they may have to steal some of the Ps360's thunder!

In the retailer musings thread on NeoGAF, employees of Best Buy, Gamestop, etc. had said that they got unusually large shipments last week, most likely for Brawl. If that's true, then these numbers make no sense whatsoever.

Honestly I'm shocked by the 'low' sales. I thought Nintendo would allocate a lot more units than that for the Brawl launch. If Nintendo was stockpiling, it wasn't for Brawl(assuming these number are correct). I'm really starting to wonder when/if this will let up. Nintendo seriously needs to do something about the supply situation soon.

All about the Wii here is "sould out", "stockpilling", i don´t undertand, for me, the Wii no sold so much that....

I agree, I think reggie is bluffing when he says they are making 1.8million wiis a month.
