I find the inferiority complex often found in the console community every bit as annoying as the PC master race crowd.

Why should anyone here care when half the PC revenue comes from Chinese online games that aren't even playable to anyone outside of it (or at least to anyone not speaking Chinese)?
Nor will many Western or Japanese developers care (not yet at least).

While it's fair to include it into a chart that is about gaming revenue, it's not very meaningful to the industry we know.

Exactly how is it wrong? a year ago 500-600 PC's where able to go toe to toe with the X1 and PS4 with games with the same type of settings in some cases even out performing the consoles. So your trying to say now a year later that that also wouldnt be true for a 500 PC build today? clearly you would build a 500PC today for a lot less then it cost you a year ago..

Yeah, because $500 PCs weren't doing that a year ago. ADDED: The thing about building a PC to match a console isn't just the specifications. The problem with that is hardware optimization goes SO much farther for consoles than it does PCs. That's because there's only one possible CPU, GPU, amount of RAM, etc for each platform. That means these games can be optimized for those parts and ruin significantly better on the same specifications as the PC equivalent. So yes, you can build a PC that matches a PS4's power for roughly the same price... But not one that matches its performance.

While it makes me happy to see the PC market as a whole doing well (since it's the platform i spend most of my time gaming on), I agree with Barozi here. Until PC gaming is consistently winning in spaces that actually matter to consoles, stuff like this is going to continue to be irrelevant to console gamers.

Bullshit.... I just assambled a fairly good, mid-end PC worth 800 euros, and guess what, it has issues running Witcher 3 on highest settings in 1080p. Of course, the guy could have opted for a cheaper mask, smaller HDD and no SSD, but then what the fuck are we talking about? Truth is, if you want a gaimg rig (and only the rig itself) that lasts you 3 years for gaming and get some work squeezed out on it, get ready to spend some 1000 euros. I am not saying it is a bad investment, but it is a fact that hardware wise a gaming PC is far more expensive then a console. And a 500$ PC is a low-end garbage bin, that you should be ready to invest in in a year or so. I love PC gaming, and I probably played more on PC then consoles in the last 3-4 years, but lets be honest here. Games are cheaper, true, but so are used or older games on consoles... I call bullshit on your post. When did you build this 500 pc, 2 years ago??. Also do you believe that the X1 and PS4 versions of Witcher 3 are the same as the maxed out PC version??. If you want to compare versions put shadows on medium draw distance to medium turn of AF16x or put it at 2x, lower down your AA or turn it off, turn off HBAO+ and Hairworks since consoles dont have them and try running that version on your 2 year old 500 PC since that version will be closer to the one your playing on your PS4,X1.. Or maybe you did build that 500 pc this year and if so and it cant play the witcher looking better then the PS4 version you got ripped off my friend..

I actually build or help people build themseleves fairly often. SO no, no BS. And I was talking about an 800 euro PC if you managed to actually read my post. The thing is, the only reason you should even consider the PC gaming market is if you have an expensive PC. If no, just playing around with settings and noticing compatiblity issues day 1, does not worth the fuss. Deal with it. This is not me speaking, this is the industry in general. And no overinflated freemium market will change this anytime soon . Demo videos are fine, about AAA multiplatform titles that look better on PC, but sure as hell they should actually advertise that quality with a pricetag.

And yes, a 500$ PC today is a garbage bin. Thank god I do not have to work on one But if you are fine with playing DotA 2, then I guess its more then enough for your needs
