Forums - Gaming - How do you stealth in MGS5?

Hey guys. How yall doing.

Pretty close to rage quitting MGS5. I would love if some of you stealth experts gave me some advice on how to play stealthily the correct way.

So far (Up to mission 9) I always take too long scouting out everything. I make sure to mark every enemy. They always eventually wake up too soon because I'm trying to take them all out without killing.

I've turned to just killing everybody. Much easier.

Halp.

*N b4 you should just play faster*

Currently own:

Then you're doing it right.

just play it like GTA if you want stealth go back to the older games...

or you could just pretend in your head you play a stealth game...use your imagination.

Keiner kann ihn bremsen, keiner macht ihm was vor. Immer der richtige Schuss, immer zur richtigen Zeit. Superfussball, Fairer Fussball. Er ist unser Torschützenkönig und Held.

few tips:

1- plan the route to your objective before executing (so you don't stop in the middle wondering to which building you have to go)

2- when in doubt, crawl

3- get a weapon with suppressor that stuns immediately (not put to sleep)

4- get the sneaking suit. if you don't have it yet, remember to lower the sneaking speed (crouching) when getting close to the enemy.

5- pull the enemy you knocked out to an empty area before fulton.

6- stay in the dark, much easier. also good idea to use the grass as a cover while crawling. (smoke the cigar until it's night time, much easier too)

That pic is hilarious!

Anyway, it will take a long time. That's how all stealth games are. I'm already 10 hours into MGS 3D, and I'm not even halfway through yet. And yes, I'm playing MGS 3. I'm playing the gameson chronological order to understand the story, even if It won't make sense.

when you rescue the wolf, wait till it can go on missions with you, and use it as buddy. He will detect the enemies.

Actually to really understand you would need to play MGS1, then MGS2, then MGS3, MGS: Portable ops, MGS: Peace walker.

You'll learn along the way, but a good start would be to not try to take out everyone. Just take out the ones you really, really need to to get to your objective. Even then, it's often better to just sneak past the enemies. It's difficult and risky but you'll learn that way. Marking the enemies is good though, continue doing that.

As for me, the above method works sometimes. More often than not I get spotted during a mission, but said method usually gets me quite a long way. I could probably improve my performance by misleading enemies, for example by using empty clips and decoys more, but I'm not at all comfortable with the small time window the clips give.

dont ever walk or run in a base, crouch or crawl. What i do to get around faster is to dive, get up then dive again. (do this fast, square,x,square)

When you get d-dog its super easy cause he detects enemy's within a certain area of you, also you can call in supply drops for new suppressors/ammo anywhere when you need them.

Literally just take out everyone with tranqs then resupply (if there wearing helmets just shoot them in legs arms, they will go down)

interrogate enemy's!! they will give you locations of important stuff, like hostages, blueprints, specialists. even if they're tranqd, go up to them and kick them then point the gun at them while theyre down.

just remember you can resupply anywhere at anytime

You should play it in release order instead. The order of games (brackets are non-Kojima games) are Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, (Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops), Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, (Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance), Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
